Pizzica d'A mare is the festival that, every summer, brings the folk music of Salento to the Ionian coast of Pulsano, in the province of Taranto. Established as a late-July event, it is an evening entirely dedicated to pizzica, folklore, and the cultural roots of the territory: a way to rediscover the deep identity of this stretch of Puglia overlooking the Ionian Sea through the rhythm of tambourines and traditional dances.

The event is organized by the Pulsano d'A Mare association, which is highly active in promoting the town's traditions and community life. Pizzica, the soul of Salento

Pizzica is the quintessential ritual dance of Salento: an ancient dance, born from peasant culture and linked to the phenomenon of tarantism, which has returned to being a language of celebration, gathering, and identity pride. In Pulsano, which belongs to the Taranto Salento, this tradition is vibrant and deeply felt: during the summer, the notes of tambourines, accordions, and voices accompany numerous folk evenings, and Pizzica d'A mare is one of its most evocative expressions, as it combines music with the charm of the coastline.

The setting for the festival is the Marina di Pulsano, one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in the province of Taranto: about seven kilometers of shore with fine white sand, coves, and inlets such as Montedarena, Lido Silvana, and the Baia del Pescatore, all immersed in Mediterranean scrub. Experiencing a night of pizzica here, with the sea just a few steps away, adds a unique, typically summery and Salento-style atmosphere to the musical experience.
