The gourmet pizza village on the Milazzo seafront
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Pizza d'Autore Festival is one of the most popular food and wine events on the Tyrrhenian coast of Messina. Every year, it turns the picturesque Lungomare Garibaldi in Milazzo, in the heart of the province of Messina, Sicily, into a true pizza village, featuring stalls, cooking stations, tastings, and performances that bring spring evenings by the sea to life.
The event was born from an idea by master pizzaiolo Enzo Piedimonte, well-known to the general public for his television appearances and for curating the food area at Casa Sanremo. Under his direction, and with the patronage of the Municipality of Milazzo, the festival has achieved extraordinary popular success since its very first editions, attracting enthusiasts and curious visitors from all over Eastern Sicily.
The heart of the event is the competition between professional pizzaiolos, judged by an accredited jury across various categories. Over the years, the festival has hosted nationally renowned masters and pizza championship stars, featuring live cooking shows, contests, and awards. Among the most popular offerings are the pizza burger, pizza with red prawns from Mazara del Vallo, and gluten-free versions, designed to satisfy every palate.
In addition to the food, the festival offers live music, DJ sets, and entertainment, with stalls open from evening until late at night. The setting of the seafront, with the silhouette of the Castle and the Milazzo peninsula in the background, provides a unique atmosphere that makes this event a highly anticipated fixture in the Sicilian spring calendar.
The Pizza d'Autore Festival stands out for its inclusive and charitable spirit: among the most touching initiatives are the live cooking shows involving special needs youth, who are invited to prepare pizzas alongside the organizers. It is a way to combine the pleasure of good food with a tangible message of hospitality and participation.
Historically, the festival is held in spring (between April and May) for four consecutive days on the Lungomare Garibaldi. The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been officially announced: it is recommended to follow the official channels of the organizers and the Municipality of Milazzo for updates.
