Guided tour and moonlight concert in the Etruscan archaeological site of Montalbano
Pietramarina Under the Stars is one of the most evocative summer events in Carmignano, in the heart of the province of Prato, Tuscany. The event takes place in the Pietramarina archaeological site, one of the most fascinating spots on the Montalbano massif: a strategic location for territorial control, long occupied by a fortified Etruscan settlement and today immersed in a forest of centuries-old holm oaks.
The event combines the discovery of archaeological heritage, the conviviality of an outdoor picnic, and the thrill of a concert under the starry sky in a single evening. It is an experience designed for those who love the blend of nature, history, and music, far from the city's hustle and bustle.
The event's proven format guides the audience from sunset until late at night:
The Pietramarina area represents a precious testimony to the Etruscan presence on the Montalbano. Its dominant position allowed for the control of a vast territory and tells the story of an ancient community that chose these hills for their settlement. The guided tour allows you to read the landscape with new eyes, recognizing the traces of a millennial past in the stones and the terrain's formation.
The Municipality of Carmignano, in the province of Prato, is a land of hills, vineyards, and olive groves, famous for its DOCG wine and its valuable historical and artistic heritage. The local network of cultural sites, from the Artimino Archaeological Museum to the Archaeological Park, makes Carmignano an ideal destination for those seeking slow, authentic tourism in the Tuscan countryside.
Pietramarina Under the Stars is part of the regional calendar of The Nights of Archaeology, the Tuscan festival that opens archaeological sites and museums every summer with evening events, tours, and performances. The initiative is also part of the 'Estate Carmignanese' (Carmignano Summer) program, supported by the Municipality of Carmignano.
Pietramarina Under the Stars returns in 2026, the summer event that combines archaeology, nature, and music in the Etruscan archaeological site of Carmignano, on the Montalbano. The initiative is included in the official cultural calendar of the Municipality of Carmignano for 2026.
The evening will follow the established format: a guided tour of the archaeological site, a picnic dinner at the Casino dei Birri, and a classical music concert by moonlight among the centuries-old holm oaks. The exact date in July and the concert program have not yet been published. For updates, we recommend contacting the Artimino Archaeological Museum (tel. +39 055 8718124) or checking the channels of the Carmignano Archaeological Park.
The Pietramarina archaeological site can be reached along the Montalbano provincial road, in the San Giusto area, within the territory of Carmignano (PO). Access is by private vehicle (car or motorcycle); comfortable footwear is recommended for the walking path in the woods.
The dinner is a picnic: each participant brings their own meal to enjoy at the Casino dei Birri.
