An open-air party on the shores of Lake Solfatara

Pic Mix has become one of the most anticipated spring events in the town of Fontana Liri, in the province of Frosinone, in the heart of the Ciociaria region and the Lazio region. Every year, on a Sunday in May, the Lake Solfatara Park transforms into a large open-air party space: music from early afternoon until evening, food stalls, tables nestled in the greenery, and the lake surface reflecting the sunset light.

The formula, which combines fitness, DJ sets, and social vibes, has won over an audience that extends far beyond the town's borders over the years: families, groups of friends, and electronic music fans travel from all over the province and beyond for what the local press calls, quite simply, the most anticipated event in the territory.

Ten years of history

The first edition of Pic Mix dates back to 2016: born as a spontaneous initiative by a group of lake enthusiasts, it has grown year after year to become a true benchmark for the Ciociaria summer calendar. In 2026, the event celebrated its tenth anniversary with an expanded line-up and even more structured organization.

Behind the event are Mirko Esposito and Alex Spagnoli, who manage the artistic direction and organization together with the owners of the Chiosco del Lago, Biagio and Giovanna Liccardo. The day is held under the patronage of the Municipality of Fontana Liri and in collaboration with local law enforcement and medical services, ensuring the safety of an event that attracts several thousand people every year.

How the day works

The rhythm of Pic Mix follows a well-established structure:

• From 3:00 PM — the spinning session led by Roby Canca, known as Spinner DJ, which combines fitness and music in a long, collective open-air session;
• From 4:00 PM — the start of the DJ sets, with a relay of local and national artists taking turns at the console until evening;
• All day long — live vocalists accompanying the sets, a street food area, drink stations, and a dedicated children's area.

In recent years, the event has also been broadcast live on Hit FM and Radio Day, via FM and DAB, expanding the audience well beyond those physically present at the park.

Lake Solfatara, a unique setting

Lake Solfatara is a small sulfurous lake located in the territory of Fontana Liri, nestled between the hills that separate the Liri Valley from the Frosinone plain. The park surrounding it has long been a meeting place for locals, with picnic areas and walking paths along the shore: a context that perfectly explains the name of the event, born from the idea of combining a Sunday picnic with a DJ mix.

It is worth remembering that Fontana Liri is the birthplace of Marcello Mastroianni and boasts a charming historic center that is well worth a visit before or after the event.

Pic Mix is not just a festival for industry insiders: the choice of free admission, the daytime schedule, and the presence of a children's area make the day suitable for families as well. At the same time, it is a serious appointment for club music fans, thanks to a line-up that brings together twenty or more names between DJs and vocalists every year.
