The review of meetings on architecture and territorial regeneration in Fidenza
Pianeta Città is the review of cultural meetings dedicated to architecture, the city, and territorial regeneration held in Fidenza, in the province of Parma, in the heart of Emilia-Romagna. Founded in 2023 on the initiative of the Municipality of Fidenza in collaboration with the Order of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservators of Parma, the review is curated by design critic and theorist Aldo Colonetti and offers a cycle of conferences each spring with some of the most important names in contemporary design.
The meetings are held in the Ridotto of the Teatro Magnani, Fidenza's historic Italian-style theatre, generally on Thursdays at 6:00 PM. Admission is free while seats last. For registered architects, each event grants professional training credits (CFP), confirming the event's dual popular and specialist focus.
Each year the review chooses a common thread. The edition dedicated to the Via Emilia between nature and artifice investigated the role of architecture along the ancient consular road, understood not only as a territory from the plain to the sea but as a true category of the spirit. Among the projects presented were the Fellini Museum in Rimini, the Campo Volo Park in Reggio Emilia, and the redevelopment of important disused industrial areas.
Pianeta Città has brought leading designers and scholars to Fidenza. Among the guests of the various editions are Mario Cucinella, Guido Canali, Matteo Vercelloni, Massimo Ferrari, as well as documentarians and protagonists of design culture. The meetings intertwine architecture, landscape, art, cinema, and urban reflection, offering a cross-sectional view of the transformation of Italian cities.
In a town like Fidenza, crossed by the Via Francigena and the Via Emilia, Pianeta Città represents a valuable opportunity to reflect on the future of medium and small urban centers, the quality of public spaces, and the link between contemporary architecture and local communities. The review confirms the city's cultural vitality and its role in the debate on the regeneration of the territories of the province of Parma and the entire Emilia-Romagna region.
The 2026 edition of the review, titled "How is a territory's identity built today?", took place in Fidenza from March 4 to May 21, 2026 in the Ridotto of the Teatro Magnani, with meetings at 6:00 PM and free admission. Promoted by the Municipality of Fidenza with the Order of Architects PPC of Parma and curated by Aldo Colonetti, it awarded 2 training credits for each event.
The review confirmed Fidenza's vocation for debate on the contemporary city and the country's inland areas.
