A Seafood Festival in the Heart of the Bassa Modenese

At first glance, it might seem like a contradiction: seafood on the table in the middle of the plains, in Quarantoli, one of the hamlets of Mirandola, in the Bassa Modenese region of Modena province. Yet, "Pesce di Mare a Tavola" is now a small gastronomic tradition of the town, organized by the Polisportiva Quarantolese (Quarantolese A.P.S.) as an occasion for the community and many food lovers from neighboring municipalities in Emilia-Romagna to gather.

The Menu: The Sea on the Table

Fish is naturally at the center of the day. The offering revolves around simple and generous seafood dishes:

• First Courses: spaghetti allo scoglio and seafood risotto;
• Main Courses: mixed fried fish and grilled fish;
• Side Dishes: french fries;
• Dessert: sorbet.

For those who do not prefer fish, there is a land-based alternative, with handmade pasta with ragù and roast veal, as well as a bar service and an à la carte menu. It is a lunch designed to please everyone, from children to grandparents.

Where and When

The event takes place in the covered and heated stand of the Quarantoli Sports Centre, in via Sandro Pertini 5, a multipurpose facility with about 250 seats, equipped with a kitchen, bar, and air conditioning. The service is dedicated to lunch, opening at 12:30 PM, with takeaway options available from 11:00 AM. It is not a single-day event: "Pesce di Mare a Tavola" is repeated several times throughout the year, on dedicated Sundays, and is therefore very popular with local residents.

A Community Tradition

Behind the festival is the work of the Polisportiva volunteers, who in Quarantoli have been combining sports activities with the organization of festivals and convivial events for years. Participating in "Pesce di Mare a Tavola" means sitting at a truly local table, where the quality of the food combines with the family atmosphere typical of festivals in Emilia-Romagna. Given the large turnout, booking is highly recommended.
