About Peoples' Festival

On the occasion of World Refugee Day, Nova Siri Scalo hosts the Peoples' Festival: craft stands with products made by beneficiaries of the reception projects, a conference on the culture of encounter, and an evening of a multi-ethnic buffet, live music, and activities for children. An event promoted by the local SAI projects under the banner of 'People Meeting People'.

A Festival of Welcome

The Peoples' Festival was born in Nova Siri, a municipality in the Province of Matera, as a moment for different cultures to meet on the occasion of World Refugee Day. Under the slogan People Meeting People, the event aims to highlight the meaning of welcome, solidarity, and civil coexistence, bringing the stories and talents of those who have come from afar to the public square.

Stands, Conference, and Multi-ethnic Evening

The festival takes place in Piazza Giovanni XXIII, in Nova Siri Scalo, and offers a program that combines culture and conviviality: craft stands with products made by beneficiaries of the reception projects, a conference dedicated to the culture of encounter with testimonials and contributions from the social and ecclesial sectors, and a concluding evening with a multi-ethnic buffet, live music, and activities for children.

A Network of Communities

The initiative is promoted by the SAI (Welcome and Integration System) projects of the Municipalities of Nova Siri, Senise, Fardella, Latronico, San Severino Lucano, and Lauria, managed by the Medihospes Social Cooperative, with the patronage of the Municipality of Nova Siri. It is a sign of a territory that networks around the values of inclusion, transforming welcome into an occasion for celebration and growth for the entire community.
