Pisticci celebrates Saint Roch
Every year, around Ferragosto, the white village of Pisticci, in the Province of Matera, gathers around its patron saint Saint Roch for one of the most heartfelt celebrations in the area. From August 15th to 18th, the streets of the town center light up with illuminations, while the community experiences days of intense devotion and great popular celebration.
Faith and tradition
The religious heart of the feast is the procession with the statue of Saint Roch, accompanied by liturgical celebrations and the choral participation of the people of Pisticci. Musical tradition is entrusted to the bands, particularly those from Puglia, which liven up the squares with their concerts, while the sky lights up in the evening with fireworks.
Great concerts in Piazza La Salsa
Alongside the devotional dimension, the patronal feast offers a rich program of shows. The stage in Piazza La Salsa hosts concerts by nationally renowned artists: the closing evening on August 18th is always one of the most anticipated moments of the Pisticci summer. The organization is managed by the Associazione Feste Patronali San Rocco di Pisticci.
Feast of Saint Roch Pisticci — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Patronal Feast of Saint Roch is held in Pisticci from August 15th to 18th, organized by the Associazione Feste Patronali San Rocco di Pisticci. Four days of devotion and popular celebration, with the procession of the saint, Puglian musical bands, illuminations, and fireworks.
The highlight is the closing evening: Tuesday, August 18th at 10 PM, in Piazza La Salsa, Simone Cristicchi, singer-songwriter and winner of the Sanremo Festival 2007 with "Ti regalerò una rosa", will perform in concert.

- August 15-17 — Religious celebrations, procession with the statue of Saint Roch, band concerts (Puglian bands), illuminations, and fireworks.
- August 18, 10:00 PM — Concert by Simone Cristicchi in Piazza La Salsa, closing evening of the patronal feast.

How to get there
Pisticci is reachable by car from the SS407 Basentana and the SS106 Jonica; Pisticci Scalo station is on the Ionian railway line. Concerts are held in Piazza La Salsa.
