About Pensa Trophy
A tradition lasting over fifty years
The Pensa Trophy is one of the longest-running sporting events in Vigevano, in the Province of Pavia. Organized by Atletica Vigevano, it is a cross-country race for primary school pupils from the city and Gambolò, which attracts hundreds of very young participants each year in the setting of the Sforza Castle.
The school race
The competition involves third, fourth, and fifth grades of primary school, divided by year and gender over distances suitable for their age. In addition to individual prizes for the top finishers, schools accumulate points based on their placings for the overall school ranking, a mechanism that fuels team spirit and cheers from classmates and families.
Sport, school, and community
The Pensa Trophy is much more than a race: it is an educational event that introduces children to athletics in a historic and evocative setting like Vigevano Castle. The event takes place with the support of the Municipal Sports Office, local Alpine troops, and participating schools, in a morning that confirms its value as a celebration of school sports each year.

The 2026 edition of the Pensa Trophy, the 54th, took place on Saturday, March 22nd, at the grounds of Vigevano Castle, with a meeting at 10:00 AM and first starts at 10:30 AM. The cross-country race featured pupils from primary schools in Vigevano and Gambolò.

Saturday, March 22, 2026 — Sforza Castle, from 10:30 AM
- 10:30 AM — Third grade girls (450 m)
- 10:50 AM — Third grade boys (450 m)
- 11:15 AM — Fourth grade girls (650 m)
- 11:25 AM — Fourth grade boys (650 m)
- 11:45 AM — Fifth grade girls (750 m)
- 12:00 PM — Fifth grade boys (750 m)
Individual prizes for the top ten finishers in each race; overall school ranking based on placings. Organized by Atletica Vigevano with the Municipal Sports Office, local Alpine troops, and participating schools.
