The Patronal Feast of Vaglio Basilicata, dedicated to Saints Faustinus and Giovita and Our Lady of Rossano, is the most anticipated event of the year for this village in the Province of Potenza, famous for the nearby Archaeological Park of Serra di Vaglio and the Lucanian sanctuary of Mefitis in Rossano, testaments to the great civilization of the Lucani people.

The Uglia and ancient rites

The feast opens with the traditional procession of the "Uglia", accompanied by folk groups and "music, bonfires, and ancient traditions". It is a moment when the community rediscovers its peasant and pastoral roots, in an interweaving of sacred and popular that characterizes the entire event.

The civil program does not disappoint: prestigious musical bands accompany the religious moments, while the evenings host concerts by well-known artists from the Italian scene, culminating in the grand finale with fireworks. Sunday is dedicated to Our Lady of Rossano, with a pilgrimage open to hikers, cyclists, and motorcyclists to the Rossano site, followed by Mass, and blessings of the journey and the spring water.

Organized by the Festival Committee of the Parish of Saint Peter the Apostle, the feast also becomes an occasion for shared memory, as evidenced by the screening of the documentary "The feast told by the grandparents".
