Saint Anthony, Saint Pascasio, and Saint Vito, in mid-June
Balvano, a small municipality in the province of Potenza in the upper Platano river valley, dedicates its most important festival to three patron saints: Saint Anthony, Saint Pascasio, and Saint Vito. In mid-June, the town gathers for religious celebrations and a rich program of shows, organized by the Comitato Feste Balvano (Balvano Festival Committee).
The heart of the civic festival is Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, which transforms into a grand stage for three evenings. Folk music, comedy, and major concerts take turns, featuring artists capable of attracting a large audience from Balvano and neighboring towns. It is a time for the community to come together, amidst music, laughter, and conviviality.
Alongside the shows, the festival retains its religious dimension, with celebrations in honor of the three patron saints. For Balvano, a town marked by history and reconstruction, the patronal feast is also an occasion for identity and a homecoming for those who have emigrated.
Experiencing the Balvano festival means discovering an authentic village in the upper Platano valley, surrounded by nature, traditions, and hospitality, in a less-traveled area of western Basilicata.
The 2026 edition of the Balvano Patronal Feast takes place from June 13th to 15th, organized by the Comitato Feste Balvano. Three evenings of shows in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele provide the backdrop for the celebrations honoring Saint Anthony, Saint Pascasio, and Saint Vito.
All shows take place in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele.
