The village's summer feast with a food stand and live music
The Parish Festival of Serramazzoni is one of the most cherished summer events in the Municipality of Serramazzoni, in the Province of Modena, in the heart of the Modenese Apennines in Emilia-Romagna. Organized by the parish with the support of the local community, the festival transforms Don Marino Donini square into a meeting point for families, residents, and tourists, with two evenings dedicated to good food and togetherness.
The heart of the festival is the food stand, where volunteers prepare specialties of the Modenese Apennine tradition. The tables are laden with local cuisine classics, served hot and accompanied by cured meats and typical local products:
Alongside the food, the festival offers live music and evening entertainment, with dance orchestras and animation that accompany the evenings until late. The atmosphere is typical of Emilia's village festivals: convivial, popular, and open to all, where different generations gather around outdoor tables.
Parish festivals are among the most authentic expressions of community life in the Modenese Apennines: they originate around the parish and religious celebrations but become opportunities for meeting and promoting local cuisine and traditions. In Serramazzoni, located between Modena and the Apennine ridge, the festival is also a chance to discover a village nestled in greenery, a cool summer retreat not far from the city.
The Parish Festival of Serramazzoni is perfect for those seeking a genuine experience away from mass tourism: free entry, affordable prices, traditional cuisine, and the warm welcome of a community that opens its doors to visitors. An ideal opportunity to combine a summer trip to the Modenese Apennines with an evening of flavors and good company.
The Parish Festival of Serramazzoni 2026 will be held on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 July in Don Marino Donini square, in the center of the village. The food stand will offer dishes of the Modenese Apennine tradition, from gnocco fritto to crescentine, accompanied by live music and entertainment for the whole family.
The detailed program, with service times and musical events for the two evenings, will be published by the parish and the Municipality of Serramazzoni closer to the event.
