A heroic trail above Foligno
The Pale Hero Trail is a trail running race held on the ridges of the Umbrian-Marche Apennines, on the western slope, based in Capodacqua di Foligno, in the province of Perugia. It is considered one of the most challenging events in central Italy, a circuit that grows in importance every year.
The routes
The race offers two courses: the long 22 km route with approximately 1500 meters of positive elevation gain, valid as the regional FIDAL short trail championship and with ITRA points, and the short 15 km route with approximately 800 meters of elevation gain, suitable for those who want to face the challenge with a more moderate effort. The start and finish are in Capodacqua.
The organizational machine
The event is organized by ASD Molon Labe and involves hundreds of athletes and dozens of volunteers. Sculptural works created by artist Armando Moriconi are awarded to the best performers. The same organization also promotes the Pale Happy Fun Day, a recreational day dedicated to adults with disabilities.
The Pale Hero Trail combines sport, nature, and territory, enhancing the trails of the Foligno mountains and the Apennine environment.
Pale Hero Trail — edition 2026
The sixth edition of the Pale Hero Trail is scheduled for Sunday, June 7, 2026, based in Capodacqua di Foligno. The race offers the long 22 km route (approx. 1500 m D+) valid as the FIDAL regional short trail championship and with ITRA points, and the short 15 km route (approx. 800 m D+). Compared to previous editions, the 36 km course has been eliminated.
Starts in the morning (9:00 AM and 9:30 AM). Approximately 300 registered athletes from over 100 teams are expected, with the support of about 80 volunteers. Sculptures by artist Armando Moriconi are awarded to the top three overall finishers (men and women) and category winners.

How to get there
Capodacqua is a mountain hamlet of Foligno, reachable by car from the city center. Foligno is served by the railway (Rome-Ancona and Rome-Florence lines) and by the SS75 and SS3 Flaminia roads.

Online registration on the official channels of the organization (ASD Molon Labe) and on Valleumbrasport. Starts in the morning (around 9:00-9:30 AM).
