Two nights of beer, food, and live music at the Palatella in Bagnara
The Palatella BeerFest is the summer beer event in the hamlet of Bagnara, in the Municipality of Sant'Angelo a Cupolo, in the province of Benevento, Campania. It takes place at the Palatella, the open-air space that gives the festival its name and which the organizers describe as "an ancient and charming corner of Bagnara": two nights of beer mugs, food, live music, and DJ sets in the heart of the small Sannio village.
The event is managed by the Pubblica Assistenza Agorà Bagnara ODV, the volunteer association that keeps almost the entire calendar of recreational activities alive in Bagnara, and is included in the official "Estate Santangiolese" program, the schedule with which the municipality and the Polo delle Associazioni—a network of twelve local associations active in food, wine, cultural, social, and sports promotion—cover the warmer months in all the hamlets of the territory.
Bagnara is one of the nine hamlets of Sant'Angelo a Cupolo: it stands at an altitude of about 303 meters on the right bank of the Sabato river, in a hilly area just over three kilometers from the municipal center, and has fewer than five hundred inhabitants. Despite its small size, it is the hamlet that the municipality itself indicates as a place "for sports, leisure, and shows": here, most of the summer evenings in Sant'Angelo are concentrated.
The Palatella is the hub of this outdoor life. It is not a monumental square or a developed tourist site: it is a corner of the village, with its ancient walls, which for a few nights a year is set up with stalls, tables, and a sound system, transforming into the village's living room. It is the classic model of an Italian village festival, where the scenery is provided by the village itself.
The formula is the tried-and-tested one of Sannio beer festivals, simple and convivial:
It is a festival that comes alive in the evening and at night, with a predominantly young audience made up of residents and visitors from the nearby towns of the Sabato valley, including Benevento.
The Palatella event has changed its name over time, while remaining the same appointment in the same place. In the summer of 2025, it was called "PALATELLA Summer Fest" and took place on Saturday, August 2nd, in its second edition, with an aperitif, live music, and DJ sets from 8:00 PM. In 2026, the municipal calendar listed it as "Palatella BeerFest", moving it to late June and extending it to two nights: a sign of growth for a festival born quite spontaneously.
Those who happen to be in Bagnara for the BeerFest will discover that the hamlet does not stop there. During the same summer, the Agorà Association also signs off on Motori e Sapori — Asparagus Festival, among the longest-running gatherings in the area, and the "Venerdì dell'Agorà" series, with evenings of karaoke, open-air cinema, dinner shows, and the white dinner at the end of August. In the other hamlets of Sant'Angelo a Cupolo, there is a succession of the Sagra della Farzona e del Paparulo 'Mbuttunato in Perrillo, the Pastene Beer Fest, the Sagra del Cecatiello, and the Festa del Caciocavallo in San Marco ai Monti: a small circuit of festivals that runs from April to September.
The 2026 edition of the Palatella festival was held on Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27, 2026 in Bagnara, a hamlet of the Municipality of Sant'Angelo a Cupolo, in the province of Benevento. Compared to the previous year, the event was moved forward to late June, expanded from one to two nights, and took the name "Palatella BeerFest", with an explicit emphasis on beer.
The event was part of the official "Estate Santangiolese 2026" program, the municipal schedule that distributed events across all hamlets from April 25 to September 13, developed together with the Polo delle Associazioni. The organization was entrusted to the Pubblica Assistenza Agorà Bagnara ODV, the same entity that manages the Asparagus Festival in May and the "Venerdì dell'Agorà" series in Bagnara.
The impact of the festival on the small village is documented by official records: with ordinance no. 18 of June 24, 2026, the municipality ordered temporary traffic changes in the Bagnara area for the two days, and Air Campania announced that on the evenings of June 26 and 27, the BN-10 line bus departing at 7:00 PM from Benevento towards Borgo Barba would not pass through the hamlet, continuing from the Bagnara junction towards Ceppaloni–Barba.
The organizers did not release a detailed program with times and artist names. Based on municipal records and the Estate Santangiolese 2026 program, the structure was as follows:
As in previous editions, the festival combined beer, food & drink aperitif, live music, and DJ sets in the final part of the evening. For both dates, municipal ordinance no. 18 of June 24, 2026, regarding temporary traffic changes in the Bagnara area was in effect, including the diversion of the evening BN-10 Air Campania bus.
La Palatella, Bagnara area, 82010 Sant'Angelo a Cupolo (BN), Campania. The festival area is outdoors, in the heart of the hamlet, about 3 km from the center of Sant'Angelo a Cupolo and about ten kilometers from Benevento.
The car is the most practical means of transport: from Benevento, follow the road leading towards Ceppaloni and Borgo Barba, with a detour at the Bagnara junction. Parking is spontaneous along the streets of the hamlet, so it is advisable to arrive early. By public transport, Bagnara is served by the BN-10 line of Air Campania, but on festival nights, some routes may be diverted: always check the carrier's notices before leaving.
For the two days of the event, the municipality adopts an ordinance for temporary traffic changes in the Bagnara area. In 2026 (ordinance no. 18 of June 24), the Air Campania bus departing at 7:00 PM from Benevento towards Borgo Barba did not pass through the hamlet, continuing from the Bagnara junction towards Ceppaloni–Barba.
Access to the area is free. Beer, food, and drinks are purchased at the stalls set up by the volunteers; the organizers do not publish an official price list in advance.

Bagnara and the nearby hamlets offer some farmhouses and small accommodations; for a wider choice, it is advisable to rely on the city of Benevento, a few minutes away by car, booking in advance during the peak of summer.
