Milongas and Argentine tango in the heart of Orvieto, amidst the Christmas lights
The Orvieto Tango Encuentro is the event that brings Argentine tango to Orvieto, in the Province of Terni, choosing the evocative Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo as its setting. An "encuentro" – literally "encounter" – designed for tango enthusiasts who gather to dance, share milongas, and perform in one of central Italy's most fascinating medieval cities.
The event takes place in the heart of winter, during the Christmas period, when Orvieto's historic center lights up and fills with initiatives. Dance thus becomes part of a broader experience, combining culture, tradition, and conviviality within the walls of the Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo.
The Orvieto Tango Encuentro is included in the "A Natale regalati Orvieto" program, the Christmas festival that enlivens the city between late November and Epiphany. A proposal that enriches the winter offerings of the Municipality of Orvieto and attracts dancers and visitors from all over Italy.
From December 5th to 8th, 2026, the Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo in Orvieto hosts the Orvieto Tango Encuentro, with milongas and events dedicated to Argentine tango. The gathering attracts tangueros from all over Italy in an elegant and intimate setting.
The event is an integral part of the "A Natale regalati Orvieto" program (10th edition, November 27th - January 6th), which enlivens the city on the cliff throughout the holidays.
The detailed program with maestros, DJs, and milonga schedules will be published by the organizers closer to the event.
