About Orfeo Music Festival

The Orfeo Music Festival is an international chamber music and advanced classical training event that arrives in 2026 in Bressanone, the oldest city in South Tyrol. From July 5th to 15th, the academy brings together young talents and world-renowned faculty, while from July 8th to 14th, evening concerts open to the public bring the city's historic venues to life: the Hofburg, the Priesterseminar, and the Vinzentinum. A festival dedicated to listening and artistic excellence, nestled in the mountains of the Isarco Valley.

An international chamber music festival in Bressanone

The Orfeo Music Festival is an international event dedicated to chamber music and advanced classical training. Founded in 2003, the festival has become a cornerstone of the European summer circuit, attracting musicians and enthusiasts from Europe, North America, and Asia. In 2026, the festival marks a major turning point: after years in Vipiteno (Sterzing), it moves for the first time to Bressanone (Brixen), the oldest city in South Tyrol, in the heart of the Isarco Valley.

2026 Edition Dates

The academy runs from July 5th to 15th, 2026, while evening concerts open to the public take place from July 8th to 14th. During these days, Bressanone's historic halls transform into spaces for listening and gathering, with a packed schedule of evening concerts, academy performances, and public masterclasses.

The city's historic venues

Concerts are held in some of the most evocative spaces in the municipality of Bressanone:

  • Kaisersaal of the Hofburg, the magnificent imperial hall of the Bishop's Palace;
  • Priesterseminar, the major seminary with its concert hall;
  • Vinzentinum, a historic city institution.

The festival's philosophy

The Orfeo Music Festival embraces the motto "Making Music Together": here, chamber music is understood as the most human form of music-making, founded on mutual listening rather than the pursuit of virtuosity. Alongside the concerts, the academy offers individual lessons, chamber music paths, public masterclasses, orchestral work, opera scenes, and modules dedicated to performance psychology and mindfulness for musicians. The annual conference of the Institute for Russian Music Studies (IRMS) is held in parallel.

A festival in the South Tyrolean mountains

Set among the mountains of the Isarco Valley in Trentino-South Tyrol, the festival combines musical excellence with the charm of an art city like Bressanone. Its alumni include violinist Randall Goosby, winner of the Avery Fisher Career Grant. For the audience, the 2026 edition is an opportunity to discover a high-quality program in a setting of rare historical and scenic beauty.
