The weekend when Milan opens the doors to its hidden places
There is a Milan that you live every day and one that remains invisible: architects' studios, attics, reception rooms, conservatories, towers, and private homes that you normally cannot enter. Open House Milano was created to break down these thresholds. For one weekend a year, completely free, the event takes you inside dozens of extraordinary places in the Lombard capital, accompanied by volunteers and by those who live in or design those places.
The 11th edition, scheduled for Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 May 2026, chooses "Milan from above" as its theme: an invitation to change perspective, to look up, and to read the city as a living and interconnected organism. There are 80 places to visit, distributed across Milan's six historic districts – Porta Orientale, Porta Romana, Porta Ticinese, Porta Vercellina, Porta Nuova, and Porta Comasina – thus telling the story of both the center and the more peripheral areas.
The program combines iconic architectures and intimate spaces: skyscrapers and towers (from Torre Velasca to new skylines), institutional headquarters, private homes, and new forms of shared living, cultural venues such as the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory, the Filodrammatici Theatre, and NABA, creative studios, showrooms, and urban regeneration projects. It's a way to understand how Milan changes, grows, and transforms.
Since 2015, Open House Milano has been part of the Open House Worldwide network, founded in London in 1992 and now present in over 50 cities across four continents. In Milan, the event has become a regular spring fixture, attracting tens of thousands of visitors curious about architecture, design, and urban life.
Some places are visited on a first-come, first-served basis (rush line), others only by reservation. To book and build your personalized itinerary, you need to register on the official website and check in via smartphone before entering.
