The major multidisciplinary festival conceived by Elisabetta Sgarbi that intertwines literature, music, cinema, art, and science
La Milanesiana is the major cultural review that since 2000, conceived and directed by Elisabetta Sgarbi, has enlivened the summer in Milan (Lombardy) and many other Italian cities. It is a profoundly multidisciplinary festival: each edition revolves around a theme that serves as a common thread for meetings on literature, music, cinema, science, art, philosophy, law, economics, sport, and comics.
Each year, the festival brings together dozens of guests including writers, Nobel laureates, musicians, directors, artists, scientists, and internationally renowned thinkers, in a close dialogue around the chosen theme. Alongside the meetings, La Milanesiana offers concerts, screenings, and exhibitions, accompanied by catalogues from the Elisabetta Sgarbi Foundation. While its heart is in Milan, the review extends to numerous cities, creating a cultural map that crosses Italy.
La Milanesiana is now a reference event in the Italian cultural calendar, capable of bringing contemporary thought to theatres, museums, and symbolic places. Over the years, the event has broadened its scope, reaching even places of care and detention, testifying to a civic vocation that complements its cultural one. A heritage of ideas that makes Milan a starting and radiating point.
The 2026 edition of La Milanesiana, the twenty-seventh, takes place from May 24 to July 22 on the theme "Desire and Law" โ two apparently opposing but deeply intertwined forces, fertile ground for questioning boundaries, morality, freedom, and responsibility. Conceived and directed by Elisabetta Sgarbi, the review touches 18 Italian cities with over 60 events.
The program intertwines literature, music, cinema, science, art, philosophy, law, economics, sport, and comics, and is accompanied by 5 exhibitions open during the summer, with catalogues from the Elisabetta Sgarbi Foundation. The edition inaugurates new collaborations with the Istituto Clinico Humanitas and the San Vittore prison, and is dedicated to Daniela Benelli, Dario Salvetti, and Giorgio Gosetti.
"Desire and Law", the common thread of all meetings.
