About Open Cellars Orvieto

Open Cellars is the most anticipated wine tourism event of the year: on the last weekend of May, the cellars of the Orvieto area open their doors to the curious and enthusiasts. Tastings, guided tours of the vineyards, picnics in the vineyard, and e-bike tours allow visitors to discover the wines of Orvieto and the landscapes of the province of Terni, where wine becomes the key to connecting with the territory, its culture, and its stories.

Open Cellars in the Orvieto Area

Open Cellars is the great national wine festival organized by the Movimento Turismo del Vino (Wine Tourism Movement), which every year on the last weekend of May brings thousands of wine tourists to Italian cellars. In the Orvieto area, in the province of Terni, wineries open their doors to showcase their wines and their territories.

Tastings and Experiences

The program includes tastings, guided tours of the cellars and vineyards, picnics in the vineyard, and e-bike tours among the vines. More than just a simple tasting, Open Cellars is an invitation to experience wine as a way to understand the Orvieto landscape, with its hills, villages, and food and wine traditions.

The Cellars of the Orvieto Area

Among the wineries active in the Orvieto area are realities such as Azienda Agricola Palazzone, Tenuta di Freddano, Castello di Montegiove in Montegabbione, and Tenuta Vitalonga in Ficulle. In Umbria, the event involves over forty wineries associated with the Movimento Turismo del Vino Umbria, which coordinates the initiative at the regional level.
