The ultimate open-air sports village on Lake Orta
Every summer, the town of Omegna, in the Province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola (Piedmont), becomes the stage for one of the most vibrant multisport events in Northern Italy. For nine days, the Omegna Summer Games turn the historic center and the promenade overlooking Lake Orta into a vast open-air sports village, where squares, streets, and the water itself host competitions, tournaments, and demonstrations for all ages.
The heart of the event is variety: it ranges from popular soccer, 3x3 basketball, padel, and beach volleyball tournaments to water sports that take full advantage of the lakeโwakeboarding, canoeing, sailing, swimming, water polo, SUP, and rowing. There is no shortage of spectacular outdoor disciplines such as slacklining, rhythmic gymnastics, aerial dance, weightlifting, and Paralympic activities. In total, there are over fifty offerings, many of which are designed to involve children and families through open trials and interactive initiatives.
The Omegna Summer Games is also a local festival and entertainment hub. Framing the competitions are concerts and live music, evening shows, cooking demonstrations, motivational talks, and spacious food areas where you can enjoy local dishes and specialties along the lakefront. The formula combines sports, charity, and social connection: the event has a strong philanthropic and inclusive spirit, involving thousands of athletes, hundreds of volunteers, and local Pro Loco associations.
Created just a few years ago through the initiative of DFM Events in collaboration with the Pro Loco of Omegna and supported by the Municipality of Omegna, the Province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, and the Piedmont Region, the event has grown rapidly to attract over fifteen hundred athletes and tens of thousands of visitors. It is the perfect opportunity to discover Omegna, stroll along the lakefront, and experience sports in one of the most beautiful settings on Lake Orta.
From July 3rd to 11th, 2026, Omegna hosts the third edition of the Omegna Summer Games. The historic center and the lakeside transform for nine days into an open-air sports village with over 50 disciplines, tournaments, demonstrations, and activities for families. The event is free for the public, with registration required for competitions.
The 2026 edition spans nine days, from July 3rd to 11th. Below is the announced structure; the detailed calendar with times and tournament brackets is published on the official website and via the program flipbook.
Omegna can be reached by car via the A26 motorway (Gravellona Toce exit), just a few kilometers from the toll booth. By train, the Omegna station is on the Novara-Domodossola line. The nearest airport is Milan Malpensa, about an hour's drive away.
