Great cinema under the stars in Piazza Santa Restituta, Sora
Oltre lo Schermo is a new cultural event that transforms the historic center of Sora, in the province of Frosinone, into an open-air cinema. In the stunning setting of Piazza Santa Restituta, the public is invited to two free-entry evenings that go beyond simple screenings: cinema becomes an opportunity for meeting, debate, and collective reflection on social issues and daily life.
The festival debuts in the summer of 2026, on Friday, July 10th, and Saturday, July 11th, starting at 9:30 PM. The event is organized by the Associazione Be Magic Eventi with the patronage of the Municipality of Sora and the Regional Council of Lazio, confirming the cultural value the region places on the project. The format alternates talk shows with guests and film screenings under the stars, in a convivial atmosphere reminiscent of the great Italian summer arenas.
The lineup for the first edition brings together leading names from Italian cinema and entertainment. The opening night features the talk "Meeting the Actors" with Monica Guerritore, joined by young actresses Ludovica and Ginevra Francesconi, followed by the screening of the film "Anna"; hosted by journalist Ilaria Paolisso. The second evening features Giampaolo Morelli and Gianmarco Tognazzi, sharing anecdotes and behind-the-scenes stories before the screening of the comedy "Divorzio a Las Vegas," hosted by Laura Freddi.
The choice of Sora is no coincidence: the city is the birthplace of Vittorio De Sica, a master of neorealism, and the entire Ciociaria region has birthed giants like Marcello Mastroianni and Nino Manfredi. Oltre lo Schermo aims to pay homage to this deep bond between the territory and the seventh art, bringing the big screen back to the heart of city life and reconnecting the community with its own cinematic identity.
The festival was born as a pilot project with a clear vision: to lay the foundations for the establishment of a Popular School of Cinema dedicated to local youth. The goal is to offer new generations in the province of Frosinone concrete tools to approach film professions, making Sora a reference point for audiovisual training in southern Lazio.
With free admission to all evenings, Oltre lo Schermo is an accessible event for families, enthusiasts, and the curious. It is an opportunity to experience the historic center of Sora in a new light and to discover, between a film and a conversation with its stars, how cinema can still unite a community.
The 2026 inaugural edition of Oltre lo Schermo brings two nights of great cinema to Sora with free admission.
