Gravel cycling rally between the Ticino Park and Lake Maggiore
Oleggio Mercurago Gravel, widely known as OMG, is one of the most beloved gravel events in Piedmont. It is a non-competitive cycling rally open to gravel bikes, mountain bikes, and e-bikes, based at Parco Beldì in Oleggio, in the heart of the town in the province of Novara. The event is organized by the GRAvel lAND circuit and has adopted the motto "ride, discover, have fun" as its philosophy: no stopwatches, just the pure pleasure of exploring the landscape in the saddle.
The beauty of OMG lies in the variety of its tracks, designed to satisfy both those looking for a leisurely ride and those wanting to challenge themselves. The routes cross the DOC hills of Novara, immerse themselves in the gravel roads of the Ticino Park, and reach the shores of Lake Maggiore, passing near the church of Bogogno, Arona, and the parks of the Gola di Mercurago, a nature reserve rich in ancient trails. Each participant receives verified GPX tracks to navigate their chosen route.
Much more than just a bike ride, OMG is a gathering that brings together hundreds of enthusiasts from all over Northern Italy every year. The meeting point at Parco Beldì, the staggered "French-style" starts throughout the morning, the refreshment stops along the route, and above all the final pasta party make it a moment of celebration and social connection. Part of the GRAvel lAND circuit calendar, the event helps promote the territory of Oleggio and the entire province of Novara as a prime destination for gravel cycle tourism in Piedmont.
