The neighborhood beer festival in Rome's Cecchignola district, featuring craft beer, street food, and live music.
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Oktoberfest Cecchignola is the signature beer festival of the Cecchignola district, located in Municipality IX of Rome, in the Lazio region. Every year, around mid-September, Piazza Castello della Cecchignola comes alive for three days of music, beer, and community spirit, drawing families, young people, and residents from across the southern quadrant of the capital.
More than just a beer festival, the Oktoberfest Cecchignola is a community project. The event is organized by local associations—AttivaMente Cecchignola, Concinnitas APS, and ASD Cecchignola—in collaboration with the Sant'Anselmo Parish and the Retake Cecchignola group. True to tradition, the festival's proceeds are reinvested into neighborhood improvement projects, ranging from green space maintenance to the restoration of common areas. Over the years, the initiative has also been supported by the Periferiacapitale program of the Fondazione Charlemagne.
The format playfully nods to the famous Munich festival, but with a distinctly Roman, neighborhood soul. Under the gazebos of Piazza Castello, you will find:
Admission is free, and the atmosphere is designed to be welcoming for all ages: children play in the square while adults toast at the tables, creating a festive vibe that has helped the event grow edition after edition, reaching its twelfth year in 2025. The Oktoberfest Cecchignola is now one of the most cherished September events in Municipality IX, successfully turning a suburban square into an entire neighborhood's open-air living room.
The Cecchignola district is located in the southern part of Rome, near the Grande Raccordo Anulare, in an area that blends residential zones, greenery, and historical significance. The festival represents a rare moment of connection for a territory often perceived as a 'dormitory' suburb, proving that a vibrant and engaged community can grow from the ground up.
Following the success of the twelfth edition in 2025, the Oktoberfest Cecchignola is preparing to return in September 2026 to Piazza Castello della Cecchignola, in Rome's Municipality IX. The organizers—the associations AttivaMente, Concinnitas APS, and ASD Cecchignola, along with the Sant'Anselmo Parish—have not yet released the official calendar or the concert lineup. The solidarity spirit of the event remains confirmed, with proceeds destined for neighborhood redevelopment, as well as the proven formula of craft beer, street food, and live music, all with free admission.
The Oktoberfest takes place in Piazza Castello della Cecchignola (ZIP code 00143), in the Cecchignola district, Municipality IX of Rome. By car, it is easily accessible from the Grande Raccordo Anulare (take the southern exits) and Via Cristoforo Colombo. By public transport, the square is served by local bus lines (specifically line 763); please note that traffic and some bus stops may be subject to changes during the event.
Admission to the festival is free. The event typically takes place over the central weekend of September, with stalls opening in the late afternoon and concerts held in the evening.
