The Sunday market at the Capannelle Racecourse, featuring antiques, collectibles, and handicrafts
The Capannelle Market is one of the most well-known flea and antique markets in Rome. It takes place along the historic Via Appia Nuova, at number 1240, right in front of the entrance to the Capannelle Racecourse, in the southeastern quadrant of the capital, near the Grande Raccordo Anulare ring road. Established in September 2011, it has grown over the years to become a favorite destination for collectors and mid-century design enthusiasts in the Lazio region.
The market spans five covered pavilions and over 4,000 square meters of outdoor space, shaded by numerous gazebos. The selection is vast and changes from week to week:
The most anticipated event is the third Sunday of every month, when, alongside the regular stalls, exhibitors dedicated to vintage cars, motorcycles, and historical spare parts appear. It is the ideal occasion for historic motoring enthusiasts looking for a rare piece or simply wanting to admire vehicles from bygone eras.
Strolling through the stalls of the Capannelle Market is a pleasant way to spend a Sunday morning in Rome: admission is free and there is ample free parking. Its weekly schedule makes it a constant reference point in the landscape of markets in the Metropolitan City of Rome, appreciated by both locals and tourists in search of an original souvenir.
The Capannelle Market, with its weekly frequency, is a distinct event from the large, occasional vintage car and motorcycle swap meets that are held sporadically in the same racecourse area.
Throughout 2026, the Capannelle Market opens its doors every Sunday, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, in the spaces in front of the Capannelle Racecourse in Rome. Between the five covered pavilions and over 4,000 square meters of outdoor areas, stalls of antiques, modern design, collectibles, model making, crafts, and local products from Lazio alternate. The third Sunday of each month remains the appointment dedicated to vintage cars, motorcycles, and spare parts. Admission and parking are free.
