The Ionian Oktoberfest at The Shed Pub

Every autumn, The Shed Pub in San Giorgio Ionico, in the province of Taranto, brings Oktober Shed – OktoberFest to life, its own personal beer festival inspired by the famous Bavarian kermesse. For four consecutive days, the spacious venue on Via Mulele, just a stone's throw from the Casablanca cinema, transforms into an open-air beer hall with long tables, benches, and a lively atmosphere that draws hundreds of people from the Ionian area and the entire province of Taranto.

Beer, Bavarian cuisine, and Puglian flavors

The heart of the festival is, naturally, the beer, served in abundance and paired with Bavarian dishes that capture the spirit of the original Oktoberfest. The culinary experience is rounded out by the pub's signature pizzas and sandwiches, which bridge the gap between German tradition and the rich flavors of Puglian cuisine. Dinner is served in the evening, just before the stage lights up with live music.

Live music every night

What sets Oktober Shed apart from typical beer festivals is its rich live music program: each night features a different concert, ranging from tribute bands dedicated to rock and pop legends to local singer-songwriters and artists. Over the years, the stage has hosted tributes to Negramaro, Pink Floyd, U2, and Ligabue, alongside choral singing nights and funk and rock'n'roll performances. The formula perfectly combines the pleasure of dining with the excitement of a concert in a festive, informal setting.

A free event for the community

Oktober Shed is a free-entry event—though table reservations are recommended—and has become one of the most anticipated autumn traditions in San Giorgio Ionico. Beyond the music and beer, the festival serves as a social hub for the local community, having even hosted presentations for local sports teams in the past. It is a little piece of Bavaria transplanted into the heart of the province of Taranto, Puglia.
