The neighborhood festival at Parco Salvador Allende in Tor Vergata
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Nuova Tor Vergata Festival is the most anticipated event of the year for the Tor Vergata district, located in the south-eastern suburbs of Rome. Conceived and organized by the Nuova Tor Vergata Neighborhood Committee in close collaboration with the Santa Maria Regina della Pace Parish, the event has grown year after year to become a true symbol of collective identity. It is not an event imposed from above, but one built by the residents themselves, local associations, and the volunteers who bring every corner of Parco Salvador Allende to life.
The heart of the festival is dedicated to sports and preventative health. Recent editions have featured collaborations with the Wizz Air Rome Half Marathon and local healthcare providers, offering collective workouts open to everyone, running and walking sessions for all levels, and free check-up stations providing screenings and consultations on nutrition, healthy lifestyles, and disease prevention. It is a practical way to combine fun with health awareness, a value the neighborhood promotes thanks to its proximity to the university hospital.
Alongside sports, the program embraces cultural and recreational dimensions: live music, performances, photography exhibitions, workshops, dance shows, sports association demonstrations, and activities for children such as Pompieropoli (firefighter-themed games), pony rides, and play areas. The event also highlights local entities like scout groups, volunteer associations, and various charity initiatives, including a raffle. As evening falls, the park lights up with entertainment, music, DJ sets, and the opportunity to dine outdoors.
Parco Salvador Allende, one of the main green spaces in the Tor Vergata area, becomes the beating heart of neighborhood life for a day. The choice of the park is no coincidence: it is the place where the community recognizes itself, where families spend their free time, and where the festival can welcome thousands of people in an accessible, natural setting.
The Nuova Tor Vergata Festival offers free admission and is aimed at an intergenerational audience: children, young people, adults, and the elderly all find their own space. It is an opportunity to experience the neighborhood in a new way, fostering social interaction, participation, and a sense of belonging. It is a small yet significant example of how the suburbs of Rome, in the Lazio region, can create authentic moments of gathering rooted in volunteerism and neighborhood pride.
For the 2026 edition, the Neighborhood Committee has begun planning with a Board of Directors meeting, but definitive dates and the detailed program have not yet been made public. The event confirms itself as a fixed early-summer appointment for the Nuova Tor Vergata district, in the south-eastern suburbs of Rome.
