About Choral Festival of the 5th Municipality

The Choral Festival of the 5th Municipality brings choral singing to the neighborhoods of eastern Rome, from Pigneto to Centocelle, through Tor Pignattara and the Villa Gordiani area. These itinerant concerts in parks, churches, and archaeological sites weave together polyphony, history, and local identity, with free events running from spring to autumn 2026. It is a dialogue between choral voices and the landmark sites of the 5th Municipality, featuring urban walks and repertoires ranging from classical to contemporary.

The Choral Festival of the 5th Municipality

The Choral Festival of the 5th Municipality is an event dedicated to lovers of polyphony and ensemble singing, which reaches its fourth edition in 2026. Promoted within the 5th Municipality of Rome, in the Lazio region, the festival transforms parks, churches, and archaeological sites in the capital's eastern districts into authentic concert venues, creating a continuous dialogue between the choirs' voices and the identity of these locations.

A journey through the neighborhoods

From Pigneto to Centocelle, passing through Tor Pignattara and the Villa Gordiani area, the concerts follow an itinerary that crosses the popular heart of eastern Rome. Each event is designed to showcase a different local site: a city park, an ancient mausoleum, a neighborhood church, or a theater. The festival thus combines choral music with archaeology and history, offering the public not only a listening experience but also the rediscovery of often overlooked sites.

Music, history, and urban walks

The project complements the concerts with urban walks led by authorized guides, who recount the historical and archaeological stratification of the 5th Municipality. The choirs' repertoire ranges from classical to contemporary, including folk traditions, in a program intended to bring families, enthusiasts, and residents closer to the area's cultural heritage.

The featured choirs

Various local and city choral groups participate in the festival. Involved groups include Le Coeur-Donne in Coro (directed by Daniela De Angelis), the Hurla Hoop Choir (directed by Alice Pelle), the Accordi e Note choir (directed by Roberto Boarini), and the Cittร  di Roma choir (directed by Mauro Marchetti). The voices alternate across the different stages, each with a program tailored to the host venue.

An event for the community

Organized by the Associazione Culturale Le Petit with the support of the 5th Municipality, the festival has established itself as a defining event for eastern Rome. The events are free of charge and spread throughout the season, from spring to autumn, culminating in a final evening at the Teatro Centrale Preneste. The event represents an opportunity to experience the neighborhood in a new way, combining the beauty of choral singing with the discovery of the capital's history and urban landscape.

Choral Festival of the 5th Municipality โ€” edition 2026

The fourth edition of the Choral Festival of the 5th Municipality runs from May to October 2026 with free itinerant concerts in parks, archaeological sites, churches, and theaters in the Pigneto, Centocelle, Tor Pignattara, and Villa Gordiani neighborhoods, linked by a path that weaves together choral music, history, and archaeology.

The 4th edition kicks off on Sunday, May 17, 2026, with the opening ceremony and continues throughout the season with a series of itinerant concerts in the landmark sites of eastern Rome. Each stage pairs the choir's voices with a different local site, including parks, mausoleums, churches, and theaters, in a dialogue between polyphony and the historical-archaeological heritage of the 5th Municipality.

Some events are accompanied by urban walks with authorized guides to tell the story of the locations hosting the concerts.
