About Novilara Art & Taste

Novilara Arte Gusto is the summer festival that enlivens the Castello di Novilara every July, a hillside hamlet of Pesaro just a few kilometers from the sea. For three evenings, the medieval village transforms into a widespread itinerary of food stands, wine and craft beer tastings, concerts, comedy shows, photographic exhibitions, art installations, and workshops. The heart of the event is the famous tagliatelle with Novilara beans De.Co., an iconic local dish. The theme accompanying the festival is 'From Culture to the Table'.

A Village Festival in the Heart of the Pesaro Hills

Novilara Arte Gusto is one of the most beloved summer events in the Pesaro area, in the Marche region. It takes place every July in the charming Castello di Novilara, an ancient fortified village located on the hills between Pesaro and Fano, a few kilometers from the Adriatic coast. For three evenings, the streets, small squares, and spaces of the historic center come alive with a program that blends art, culture, music, and gastronomy, true to the event's motto: 'From Culture to the Table'.

The Iconic Dish: Tagliatelle with De.Co. Beans

The absolute star of the table is Novilara's signature dish: tagliatelle with Novilara beans, a recipe that has received the De.Co. (Denominazione Comunale di Origine - Municipal Designation of Origin) recognition from the Municipality of Pesaro. At the food stands set up in the village, you can taste this specialty along with wines from Vignaioli al Castello and craft beers, with carefully curated pairings. Among the recent additions is also a gluten-free version of the tagliatelle, for truly inclusive hospitality.

Art, Music, and Entertainment

Beyond the food, Novilara Arte Gusto offers a rich entertainment program spread across the main stage, the small theater space, the school area, and the entrance arch. Live concerts, vinyl sets, comedy shows with artists from the Zelig circuit, comic magic, photographic exhibitions, and art installations decorating the village's nooks and crannies take turns. There is also space for culture with the Premio Scrittura in C.I.B.O. (Writing Prize in FOOD), a literary competition dedicated to the distinctive cuisine of villages.

Workshops, Market, and Activities

  • Tagliatelle workshops with local pasta makers, to learn how to roll pasta by hand
  • Market with local crafts and typical products along the village streets
  • Vignaioli al Castello: guided tastings of local wines
  • Birre al Castello: tastings by Slow Food
  • Ciclotagliatella and Mototagliatella: on Sunday mornings, bike and motorcycle rides with a final lunch

A Village to Discover

Visiting Novilara Arte Gusto also means discovering one of the most characteristic villages in the Municipality of Pesaro: the Castello di Novilara preserves its medieval layout with its walls, walkways, and a belvedere overlooking the hills. The event, organized by the Associazione Culturale La Stele (Cultural Association The Star) with the support of the Municipality of Pesaro and the Marche Region, keeps alive the community's spirit of togetherness and hospitality, in a familiar and genuine atmosphere that sets it apart from more commercial festivals.
