The Canavese road race, a classic of Piedmontese running
The Nove Miglia Alladiese is the road race of the town of Agliè, a village in the Canavese area in the Province of Turin, Piedmont. The name refers to the nine miles of the course, which corresponds to a route of approximately 14.5 kilometers winding through the roads and countryside of the Agliè territory. Over the years, the race has become a fixture in the regional Piedmontese calendar managed by FIDAL, a true spring classic that draws hundreds of runners from all over the region.
The route starts and ends at the Franco Paglia hall, on the road to Bairo, the true epicenter of the event. The course is divided into two distinct sections: an initial, smoother approach, and a second half that is significantly more challenging, which often decides the outcome of the race. It is precisely this balance between rhythm and endurance that makes the Nove Miglia a test loved by runners from the Canavese and beyond.
The event is dedicated to the memory of surveyor Daniele Ferrando, a figure linked to the Agliè area, and was born from the passion of Team Peretti, the association that handles the organization. Every year, the race involves dozens of running clubs, with individual rankings, generous category prizes, and awards for the largest groups, in the spirit of a sporting tradition that continues to grow in Agliè edition after edition.
Running the Nove Miglia also means discovering Agliè, a town known for its magnificent Ducal Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site among the Residences of the Royal House of Savoy, and for the gentle, green landscape of the Canavese. The race is therefore an opportunity to combine sport and territory, on a spring Sunday dedicated to running and conviviality.
