Chamber music in the Courtyard of Villa Boschetti, San Cesario sul Panaro
The Sighicelli Concerts represent the summer strand of the Note di Passaggio series, organized by the association Amici della Musica di Modena Mario Pedrazzi APS. The setting is the Courtyard of Villa Boschetti, in the heart of San Cesario sul Panaro, a small town in the Province of Modena in Emilia-Romagna, along the banks of the Panaro river.
The association behind the series is one of the historic musical organizations in the area: founded in 1919, for over a century it has brought great chamber music to the cities and villages of the province, with a program that intertwines masterpieces of the past with pieces from the 20th century and contemporary works.
Note di Passaggio is not limited to San Cesario: the summer series touches several towns in the Modenese area, from Spilamberto to Castelnuovo Rangone, bringing concerts to historic courtyards, castles, and villas. In San Cesario sul Panaro, however, the Courtyard of Villa Boschetti has become the symbolic venue of the initiative, with its evening events animating the summer of the town.
In a summer often dominated by pop concerts and food festivals, the Sighicelli Concerts offer a cultured and free alternative, capable of enhancing the historical heritage of San Cesario sul Panaro and presenting high-level performers in an intimate and cozy setting. An opportunity to listen to great chamber music just a short distance from Modena, immersed in the greenery of the Bassa Modenese.
The opening is entrusted to the full and brilliant sound of horns with the Modena Horn Quartet, an ensemble formed by Benedetto Dallaglio, Alessandro Montanari, Gianluca Pagliara, Simone Ricchi, and Piero Silvestri.
The program spans centuries and styles, with music by Rossini, Richard Strauss, Eugène Bozza, Mitushin, Humperdinck, Weber, Wagner, and Brahms: a journey that highlights the different facets of the instrument, from Italian operatic brilliance to German Romantic lyricism.
Like all Note di Passaggio events, the concert is free admission. In case of bad weather, the evening will be moved indoors (Troisi Theater or Great Hall of Villa Boschetti).
