Sport, dance, and inclusion in Carbonara di Nola
The Night of the Superheroes is an annual event that lights up the Villa Comunale in Carbonara di Nola, a small town in the Metropolitan City of Naples, Campania. Born from the vision of the Gli Amici di Sempre association, which has long been committed to protecting the rights of people with disabilities, the evening has become one of the most cherished events in the Nola area dedicated to social inclusion, the celebration of diverse abilities, and the promotion of Paralympic sports.
At the heart of the show is the ASD Gabry Dance school of Poggiomarino, led by master Gabriele Cretoso, which brings athletes and dancers of all ages to the stage. The choreography illustrates a journey through various types of disabilities—intellectual-relational, physical-motor, auditory, and visual—alongside manual and electronic wheelchair dancing, demonstrating how movement and art can break down every barrier. The evening thus combines Paralympic sports dance, live performance, and a powerful civic message.
The Night of the Superheroes is more than just a show: it is a cultural and social project that involves families, young people, and institutions. Over the years, the event has seen growing participation, with the Villa Comunale packed with spectators, and has given a voice to the project «There is so much more to disability», designed to change the community's perspective on disability and transform it into an opportunity for collective growth.
The event enjoys the support and presence of the Italian Paralympic Committee, with representatives from CIP Campania attending to demonstrate their commitment to those working daily for people with disabilities. The initiative brings together the municipal administration, local associations, and the citizens of Carbonara di Nola, who experience the evening as a moment of celebration and shared identity.
The fourth edition of the Night of the Superheroes animated the Villa Comunale of Carbonara di Nola on Saturday, June 20, 2026, before a massive audience. The highlight was the performance by the Gabry Dance school, which showcased six types of journeys related to intellectual-relational, physical-motor, auditory, and visual disabilities, as well as manual and electronic wheelchair dancing.
During the evening, the project «There is so much more to disability» was presented by Dr. Lucia Ferraro, while the event was hosted by MariaPia D'Ascoli. Dr. Carmine Mellone, President of the Italian Paralympic Committee of Campania, attended to demonstrate institutional support. The grand finale featured the Musical Cast and a collective choreography that involved all participants.
Carbonara di Nola is located in the south-eastern part of the Metropolitan City of Naples, at the foot of the Sarno Mountains. By car, it can be reached from the Nola exit of the A16 Naples-Canosa motorway and the SS 268 del Vesuvio state road. The nearest train station is Nola, on the EAV Circumvesuviana line.
The event is held in the Villa Comunale of Carbonara di Nola, an outdoor public space in the town center, during the evening.
The evening is free and open to the public. It is recommended to check the updated dates and program on the official channels of the Gli Amici di Sempre association.
