The cultural accolade celebrating excellence in Camposano
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Every early September, the small town of Camposano, in the heart of the Nola area and the Metropolitan City of Naples, gathers to celebrate its local excellence. The San Gavino Award is a cultural event that, edition after edition, has become a landmark for the region: an evening dedicated to those who, through their work and dedication, contribute to making the community stronger and more cohesive.
The award is conceived and organized by the cultural association Ars et Cultura, a very active organization in Camposano that hosts youth workshops, theater festivals, film forums, exhibitions, and charity initiatives. The San Gavino Award is the most anticipated event in its calendar and is traditionally held at the Opera Parrocchiale San Gavino, on Via Paolino Barbato, with free admission open to the entire public.
At the heart of the event are the honorees: local figures who distinguish themselves in social work, culture, entrepreneurship, civic engagement, and legality. The September 6, 2025, edition honored Father Aniello Manganiello, a priest who has always been at the forefront of issues regarding legality and human dignity, and Elisabetta Vacchiano, a young agricultural entrepreneur dedicated to zero-mile production. It is a way to honor those who serve as positive examples for new generations.
The San Gavino Award is more than just an awards ceremony: it is a show designed for the whole family. The evening alternates between music, dance performances, and interviews with the protagonists, all guided by a graceful presentation. In 2025, the stage hosted the musical group "I Macchiettisti" and the "Eclat" dance school, while the interviews with the honorees added depth and warmth to the event, inspired by Gandhi's thought: "The future depends on what we do in the present."
Camposano is a small town in Campania, in the Province of Naples, nestled in the fertile Nola plain. Events like the San Gavino Award tell the story of these towns' identities: communities where the parish, associations, and schools remain the driving force of cultural life. Attending the award is also an opportunity to discover an authentic corner of Campania, far from the most beaten tourist paths.
The San Gavino Award is usually held on the first Saturday of September in the evening. The date of the next edition is announced by the Ars et Cultura association through its social media channels and local press: it is recommended to check before planning your visit.
The San Gavino Award returns to Camposano, in the Metropolitan City of Naples, for a new edition scheduled for early September 2026. The event, organized by the cultural association Ars et Cultura, maintains its format: the awarding of local personalities and excellence, accompanied by musical performances, dance moments, and interviews with the protagonists. The official date will be communicated by the association through its social media channels and local press.
