The sweetest night in Puglia dedicated to the Sospiro of Bisceglie
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Night of the Sighs is the food and wine festival with which Bisceglie, a town overlooking the Adriatic in the Barletta-Andria-Trani province, celebrates its most iconic product: the Sospiro, a small, round sponge cake filled with cream and covered in a snowy sugar glaze. For one night, the tourist port and the waterfront transform into a large open-air lounge, where the city's pastry shops offer the Sospiro in all its forms, under the lights and the late-summer sea breeze.
The event is promoted by the Historical Pastry Shops Association of Bisceglie, which brings together the artisans who guard the traditional recipe. Alongside the classic sweet Sospiro, in recent years the festival has introduced popular savory versionsโfrom ham and Philadelphia cheese to tuna and sun-dried tomato, or mortadella with ricotta and pistachioโas well as inclusive gluten-free and lactose-free variants, designed to ensure everyone can join in. The pastry, also presented in flavors like pistachio, coffee, lemon, chocolate, and mixed berries, serves as the common thread for a delicious stroll among the stalls set up along the port.
The Night of the Sighs is not just about tasting: the program alternates between street performer shows, magic acts, fire-breathers, live music, stories about Puglia's confectionery tradition, and a highly anticipated fireworks display to close the evening. The atmosphere is designed for families and visitors of all ages, who arrive in large numbers every year from neighboring provinces and regions. Entry to the area is free; tickets are only required for tastings.
Born from a project to promote the local territory and its pastry culture, the Night of the Sighs has grown with each edition, with a constantly increasing audience and a growing focus on sustainability (a plastic-free format). The event has become a landmark for the Municipality of Bisceglie and the entire Puglia region, capable of telling the story of the region's confectionery identity through a single, unmistakable pastry. The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been officially announced: this page will be updated as soon as the calendar is made public.
For the 2026 edition of the Night of the Sighs in Bisceglie, no official dates or detailed program have been announced yet. Based on previous editions, the event is traditionally held in September at the tourist port, with free entry to the area and tickets required for tastings.
This year too, the event, organized by the Historical Pastry Shops Association of Bisceglie, is expected to offer the famous pastry in its sweet and savory versions, along with street artists, live music, and a closing fireworks display.
