Two days dedicated to youth choral music in the heart of Faenza
The Next Station Choir Festival was born in Faenza, in the heart of Romagna in the province of Ravenna, as an event entirely dedicated to youth choral singing. Coordinated by the Artistation Association — the city's historic music and singing school — the festival promotes choral music as a tool for artistic growth and social inclusion, transforming the historic center of Faenza into a widespread stage for voices for two days.
The format chosen by the organizers is the itinerant concert: the choirs do not perform in a single venue, but accompany the audience on a journey that visits some of Faenza's most evocative locations. Starting from the Municipal Art Gallery, the tour continues through the Church of San Bartolomeo (Church of the Fallen), the Museum of the Risorgimento, and the Hall of the Municipal Council, in a crescendo that blends music and the city's heritage. The day concludes with the grand final concert at the Sala Fellini Theater, where all participating choirs take the stage together.
The event brings together some of the most vibrant youth choral groups from central-southern Italy:
The repertoire ranges from sacred music to gospel, up to pop arrangements for choir, in a program designed to introduce even the youngest audiences to the world of ensemble vocal music.
Alongside the musical events, the festival dedicates space to training: a session aimed at teachers and choir directors addresses the theme of choral singing in schools, with contributions from entities linked to the Festival of the Educating Community. This focus confirms the educational mission of the project promoted by Artistation.
Known worldwide for its ceramics, Faenza is also a center of intense cultural life in Emilia-Romagna. The Next Station Choir Festival fits into this context by promoting young talent and offering residents and visitors the opportunity to discover the historic center through music.
The inaugural edition of the festival took place in Faenza on Saturday, April 11 and Sunday, April 12, 2026, bringing together youth choirs from Faenza, Imola, and Foggia for two days dedicated to choral singing.
On Saturday, April 11, the itinerant concert traversed the landmarks of the historic center:
On Sunday, April 12, at 10:00 AM at the Artistation venue, the training session "Choral singing in schools… how and why" was held, aimed at teachers and choir directors.
Faenza is easily reachable by train (station on the Bologna-Rimini line) and by car via the A14 motorway, Faenza exit. The festival events take place in the historic center, largely accessible on foot.
Municipal Art Gallery (via Santa Maria dell'Angelo 9), Church of San Bartolomeo, Museum of the Risorgimento, Hall of the Municipal Council, and Sala Fellini Theater for the final concert.
The performances during the itinerant tour take place in public and civic spaces in the city. For updated information on any tickets and reservations for the final concert, it is advisable to consult the channels of the Artistation Association.
