The fair of Arcole DOC wine and Veronese flavors, in the name of San Martino
The National Fair of San Martino and Arcole DOC is the major food and wine event in Arcole, a municipality in the Eastern Veronese area, in the province of Verona. It takes place in November, around the feast of San Martino, and celebrates the region's wine excellence: Arcole DOC wine, produced in the vineyards between the provinces of Verona and Vicenza.
The heart of the fair is the wine exhibition dedicated to Arcole DOC wine, an opportunity to discover and taste the local labels and meet the producers of the Protection Consortium. An event that highlights a historic denomination of Veronese viticulture.
Alongside the wine, the food stands offer the great classics of Venetian cuisine: polenta and cod, risotto all'isolana, stewed tripe. The program is enriched by a Venetian carnival, a historical encampment re-enacting the famous Napoleonic battle fought at Arcole in 1796, cabaret shows, ballroom dancing, and cooking shows for children.
Arcole is inextricably linked to the Battle of Arcole in November 1796, a decisive episode in Napoleon Bonaparte's Italian campaign. The fair thus combines the promotion of agricultural products with the historical memory of a place that played a role in European events, offering visitors an experience of taste and culture.
The National Fair of San Martino and Arcole DOC returns to Arcole in November 2026, during the San Martino festival period. The event, an annual fixture in the Eastern Veronese area, will again feature the wine exhibition dedicated to Arcole DOC wine, food stands with traditional Venetian dishes, the Venetian carnival, the Napoleonic historical encampment, and evening shows.
The precise dates (typically the weekend of San Martino, mid-November) and the detailed program will be announced by the Arcole Fair Committee in the weeks preceding the event.
