Natale Insieme is the Christmas event program promoted by the Municipality of Boscotrecase, a town nestled on the slopes of Vesuvius in the Metropolitan City of Naples, Campania. Reaching its 8th edition in 2025, the program accompanies the community from late November through Epiphany, with events spread across Piazza Municipio, Piazza Sant'Anna, local parishes, and the historic center.

This is far more than a simple series of concerts: the festival weaves together popular devotion, nativity art, live performance, and historical memory in a town that lives in the shadow of Mount Vesuvius and maintains a deep connection to its traditions. Admission to all events is free, a policy the municipal administration has championed since the very first edition.

Bosci Trium Domorum: Boscotrecase returns to 1337

The most original chapter of the festival is the Bosci Trium Domorum historical re-enactment, which debuted in December 2025. The name is no coincidence: in 1337, King Robert of Anjou donated the Sylva Mala to the three Neapolitan monasteries founded by Queen Sancia—Santa Chiara, Santa Maria Egiziaca, and Santa Maria Maddalena. The town's very name, Boscotrecase, derives from that forest of the "three monastic houses," or Bosci Trium Domorum.

The re-enactment brings this historic grant to life with a grand civic pageant that turns back the clock nearly seven centuries. Over 120 participants take part, including about 80 trumpeters, arquebusiers, and musketeers, joined by forty extras and re-enactors in 14th-century costumes. The procession starts at Piazza Sant'Anna, the ancient heart of the town, and winds through the historic streets to Piazza Municipio, where the final theatrical performance takes place.

The artistic nativity scene in the Church of San Francesco

Alongside the re-enactment, the magic of the holidays is captured by the artistic nativity scene set up in the Church of San Francesco in Piazza Sant'Anna. The 2025 edition was dedicated to the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi, recreating the night of Greccio in 1223, when the first nativity scene in history was born. This work of scenography, lighting, and figures remains open throughout the holiday season and draws visitors from neighboring towns.

Music, villages, and family events

Over the years, Natale Insieme has brought headline free concerts to Piazza Municipio—such as Gigi Finizio in 2023—alongside a Santa Claus village, the Befana Village on January 6th, a living nativity scene, Christmas concerts at the Ave Gratia Plena parish, and social events like the community tombola in the auditorium. It is a program designed for both children and adults, with the town square serving as a natural stage.

Boscotrecase is located on the southern slopes of Vesuvius, just a few kilometers from Pompeii, Torre Annunziata, and the Vesuvius National Park.
