About Mytilus Fest

Mytilus Fest is the major festival celebrating the Campi Flegrei mussel, bringing the Port of Baia in Bacoli to life with three days dedicated to gourmet food, culture, and live music. Now in its third edition, the event honors local mussel farming with signature tastings, live cooking shows, evening concerts, children's workshops, and boat excursions along the submerged coast of Baia. A free event that blends the sea, tradition, and the local territory in the heart of the province of Naples.

The Campi Flegrei Mussel Festival

Mytilus Fest is the event that transforms the charming Port of Baia in Bacoli into the stage for the Campi Flegrei mussel every summer. Born as an evolution of the historic Campi Flegrei Mussel Festival, the event has grown into a key appointment for local gastronomy, weaving together sea flavors, culture, and entertainment in a setting overlooking the gulf.

Organized by the MSP Cultural Association with the support of the Municipality of Bacoli, the Metropolitan City of Naples, the Campi Flegrei Regional Park, and the local Pro Loco, the festival focuses on mussel farming, an ancient tradition passed down through generations by the local mussel farmers of Bacoli.

Tastes and Tastings

The heart of the festival lies in its tastings: local restaurateurs and producers offer mussels in every possible variation, from appetizers to desserts. Signature dishes include the classic impepata di cozze (peppered mussels), sautรฉed mussels, mussels au gratin, seafood pasta, and fried fish, all paired with Campi Flegrei wines and craft beer.

  • Over twenty restaurants and food stalls at the port
  • Live cooking shows with local chefs
  • Typical products and wines from the Flegrean area

Music, Culture, and the Sea

Every evening, the port lights up with live concerts and shows that accompany the tastings until late at night. Alongside the music, the program offers a rich calendar of activities for all ages: creative workshops for children on shell recycling and sea sustainability, guided tours of mussel farms, boat tours along the coast of Baia, and excursions to discover the area's underwater archaeological heritage.

An Event of the Flegrean Territory

Mytilus Fest is much more than a food festival: it is a collective story of the identity of Bacoli and the Campi Flegrei in Campania, highlighting the work of local producers, the culture of the sea, and the beauty of one of the most fascinating stretches of coast in the province of Naples. Admission to the event is free, while tastings and some special experiences require payment.
