About MXGP Montevarchi

The MXGP Motocross World Championship Italian Grand Prix heads to Montevarchi, in the heart of the Valdarno area near Arezzo. On June 20th and 21st, 2026, the legendary Miravalle International Circuit welcomes back the World Championship after a twenty-year hiatus, hosting the ninth round of the season featuring the MXGP, MX2, and EMX250 European Championship classes. Two days of heart-pounding practice sessions, qualifiers, and races, with the world's best riders competing on one of Italy's most historic and technical tracks.

The Motocross World Championship returns to Montevarchi

The MXGP Italian Grand Prix brings the Motocross World Championship back to Montevarchi, in the province of Arezzo, in the heart of the Tuscan Valdarno. The event, scheduled for June 20th and 21st, 2026, marks the return of the World Championship to the Miravalle International Circuit after twenty years; the last time the Arezzo track hosted the premier world series was in 2006. It is a historic event for the entire region, rewriting a glorious tradition that had been interrupted for far too long.

A track with a place in motocross history

Miravalle is no ordinary circuit: throughout its long history, it has hosted seven editions of the World Championship (1980, 1985, 1990, 1994, 1998, 2003, and 2006) and the prestigious 1982 Motocross des Nations. Returning to race here means that riders and fans alike are reunited with one of Italy's true temples of the sportโ€”a technical, selective track that has seen generations of champions speed by. For 2026, the circuit will host the ninth round of the MXGP world calendar.

Race classes

The Montevarchi weekend features three top-tier categories:

  • MXGP โ€” the premier class of the World Championship, featuring 450cc bikes and the best riders on the planet;
  • MX2 โ€” the 250cc category, a breeding ground for emerging talent and future champions;
  • EMX250 โ€” the European Championship reserved for young riders, which will hold its seventh round in Montevarchi.

More than just racing: city celebrations

The event extends beyond the boundaries of the racetrack to involve all of Montevarchi. On Friday, June 19th, in Piazza Varchi in the historic center, there will be a presentation of the Italian riders competing in the World Championshipโ€”a chance to meet the stars of the MXGP and MX2 classes up close. Throughout the weekend, there will be a Paddock Show with fan-athlete meet-and-greets, as well as social events with music and DJ sets. This festive atmosphere makes this Grand Prix much more than just a sporting event.

An event for the Valdarno

The organization is managed by the historic Moto Club Brilli Peri of Montevarchi, in collaboration with Infront Moto Racing, the promoter of the MXGP World Championship. A large turnout of spectators from across Italy and abroad is expected, drawn by the international appeal of the championship and the allure of a legendary track. For the Municipality of Montevarchi and the entire Province of Arezzo, this is an exceptional showcase, capable of bringing thousands of motocross enthusiasts to the Valdarno and Tuscany.
