The Music Festival in Paternò

In the heart of Sicily, in the province of Catania, the town of Paternò joins the Music Festival every year, the grand celebration held on June 21st to coincide with the summer solstice. The event transforms Piazza Umberto I into an open-air stage where music, in all its forms, becomes the absolute protagonist of the longest day of the year.

An event within the international circuit

The Paternò initiative is part of the broader national and European Fête de la Musique circuit, which began in France in 1982 and is now celebrated across the continent. Every June 21st, thousands of cities put music at the center: in Paternò, this means restoring the square as a meeting place where professionals and enthusiasts can perform and listen freely.

Organizers

The Paternò Music Festival is promoted by the Musica&Movimento A.P.S. association, a Third Sector entity, in collaboration with the Pro Loco of Paternò A.P.S. and with the support of the Municipality of Paternò. The goal is to enhance the local musical fabric and provide space not only for artists but also for the many professions that revolve around music: sound engineers, sound designers, authors, publishers, and musicians.

What to expect

The program spans various genres—from classical to pop, rock to rap—with a selection designed to cater to diverse tastes. Throughout the day, performances by local bands, soloists, choirs, and instrumental ensembles alternate, alongside open acoustic spaces dedicated to amateur musicians.
