The European Music Festival brings the historic center of Chiaramonte Gulfi to life
The Music Festival is the event that celebrates the arrival of summer across Europe every June 21st through the universal language of music. In Chiaramonte Gulfi, a charming Iblean village in the province of Ragusa, Sicily, this occasion has become a highly anticipated date that turns the historic center into a grand open-air stage.
Throughout the day, around fifteen groups, singers, DJs, and dance schools respond to the Municipality's invitation, animating the town's streets and squares with performances scattered across various locations. The result is a musical journey that visitors can follow while strolling through the alleys, discovering a different performance at every corner: from pop to rock, choral repertoires to DJ sets, and dance school showcases.
The Music Festival is not an isolated event; it is part of a larger festive weekend that also includes the Carrugghiu Fest, scheduled for the previous day. This event, set between the historic center and the San Giovanni district, is dedicated to food, wine, and entertainment, featuring the La Sicilia che piace food area: sausage sandwiches, local wine, and Chiaramonte olive oil, alongside typical products from neighboring towns like Buccheri, Monterosso Almo, and Giarratana. There are also markets, children's entertainment, and live music.
Recognized as one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy and known as the "Balcony of Sicily" for its panoramic views stretching to Mount Etna and the sea, Chiaramonte Gulfi provides a stunning backdrop for the Music Festival, complete with Baroque churches, stone alleys, and scenic viewpoints. The event, with free admission, is a perfect opportunity to experience the Municipality of Chiaramonte Gulfi at its most festive, blending a love for music with the rediscovery of Iblean traditions and flavors.
The 2026 Music Festival in Chiaramonte Gulfi was held on Sunday, June 21st, transforming the historic center into a sprawling stage with around fifteen performances. Among the announced participants: Flaminia Occhipinti (known as Monia Viola, star of The Voice Kids 2024), The Golden Ears, Noro's Band, Biscuits of Machine, JulianX DJ, the Relevé Dance Center, and the Mariele Ventre Choir of Ragusa.
The musical day was preceded on Saturday, June 20th by the Carrugghiu Fest, between the historic center and the San Giovanni district, featuring the La Sicilia che piace food area (sausage sandwiches, local wine and oil, typical products from Buccheri, Monterosso Almo, and Giarratana), DJ sets by Sandro Leggio and Giuliana Cascone, markets, and children's entertainment with the Little Big Toy Library. The event, promoted by the Municipality of Chiaramonte Gulfi, offered free admission.
Chiaramonte Gulfi can be reached by car via the SP7 and SS194 roads; the nearest airports are Comiso (approx. 30 km) and Catania Fontanarossa (approx. 90 km). The reference train station is in Ragusa, which is connected by local bus lines.
The Music Festival offers free admission. Performances take place outdoors in the streets and squares of the historic center.
We recommend wearing comfortable shoes for walking through the alleys and taking advantage of the day to visit the Baroque churches and panoramic viewpoints of the village.
