The winter festival of street food, artisan markets, and live music in the historic center of Mottola
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Music and Chestnuts is the winter event that, during the Christmas season, transforms the historic center of Mottola, a town in the province of Taranto, Puglia, into a vibrant stage for flavors, crafts, and music. The heart of the event is Largo Chiesa Madre and the surrounding streets of the old town, which for one night fill with stalls, lights, and voices, drawing in residents and visitors from the nearby towns of the Murgia Tarantina.
The absolute star is the local gastronomy: street food stalls offer sweet and savory specialties of the Apulian tradition, accompanied by the essential chestnuts that give the festival its name. There is no shortage of tastings of typical products and wines from the best local wineries, in a culinary journey that invites you to stroll leisurely among the stalls.
Alongside the food, artisan markets display unique creations and gift ideas, while live music accompanies the entire evening: artists take turns on stage, creating an engaging Christmas atmosphere. Shows and entertainment complete a program designed for all ages, with activities also dedicated to the little ones.
The event, reaching its fourth edition in 2025, is organized by the OGM - Organizzazione Giovanile Mottolese together with local associations and with the patronage of the Municipality of Mottola. Born in 2022 as a small community initiative, it has grown year after year, becoming one of the most anticipated events in Mottola's winter calendar, capable of combining the promotion of local products, social interaction, and the rediscovery of the historic center.
The 2026 edition of Music and Chestnuts in Mottola (province of Taranto, Puglia) does not yet have an official date. Based on previous editions, the event is expected to return during the Christmas period at the end of December, in the historic center around Largo Chiesa Madre, featuring street food, tastings of local products, chestnuts and local wines, artisan markets, and live music. Information on dates and the program will be published by the OGM - Organizzazione Giovanile Mottolese on their social media channels.
