About Morlupo Music Festival

Every year, around the summer solstice, Morlupo joins the international Music Festival network, transforming its public spaces into an open-air stage. Organized by the local Pro Loco with the support of the Municipality, the event features two evenings of free concerts—showcasing emerging bands, singer-songwriters, blues, pop, and rock'n'roll—alongside food stalls, creative workshops, and activities for children and teens. It is a popular, accessible event that celebrates the musical identity of this corner of the province of Rome.

A solstice of notes in northern Lazio

The Morlupo Music Festival is the annual event that lights up this small town in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital every June, nestled in the Sabina countryside north of the capital. The initiative is part of the Festa della Musica, the major European celebration held on June 21st since 1982 to mark the summer solstice with widespread, free concerts. Italy participates in this international network under national coordination, and the Pro Loco of Morlupo has been a dedicated participant for several years, with the patronage of the Municipality.

A deliberately itinerant festival

The format chosen in Morlupo is that of a traveling event: each edition changes its setting, bringing music to different squares, public gardens, town streets, and green spaces. After several editions hosted along Via Domenico Benedetti near the public gardens, the festival moved to the Parco dei Padri Teatini, a large pine forest immersed in greenery that fills with music, meetings, and shared moments for two days. This choice is not merely logistical: changing locations allows residents to rediscover corners of the town that often go unnoticed in daily life, while simultaneously engaging new artists and audiences each time.

The musical program

The lineup spans two evenings, typically from 6:00 PM until midnight, with a continuous succession of sets. The selection is deliberately eclectic, focusing primarily on the local scene:

  • Singer-songwriters and Italian songwriting, featuring acoustic and intimate performances
  • Blues and roots music, often performed by local ensembles
  • Pop and rock'n'roll, with bands energizing the peak hours of the evening
  • Young musicians and emerging local groups, for whom the festival represents one of the few opportunities to perform on an open-air stage

Alongside new names, artists who have previously shared their talent in this free, open, and welcoming space for music lovers return every year. Admission is free, in keeping with the spirit of the international Music Festival network.

More than just concerts: a community celebration

The Pro Loco builds a program around the stage designed for all ages. Food stalls run by volunteers offer local dishes and specialties from early evening; large areas are dedicated to youth sports and children's games, with the Morludics group managing the recreational activities. Past editions have also featured creative workshops, street art, and family entertainment, making the event a true community gathering rather than just a series of concerts.

Morlupo, between the Roman Tuscia and the Tiber Valley

Morlupo is located just over thirty kilometers from Rome, along the Via Flaminia route, in a territory with roots in the ancient Capenati people who settled here before Roman expansion. The village preserves a compact historic center, a baronial castle, and a close relationship with the surrounding countryside; the Parco dei Padri Teatini, with its pine forest, is one of the most beloved green lungs by the locals. Attending the Music Festival is therefore also a great excuse to discover a town in Lazio often overlooked by tourist circuits, located a short distance from the Veio Park and the villages of the Tiber Valley.

A theme that changes every year

Each edition of the Italian Music Festival adopts a national theme that guides the artistic proposals of individual territories: from the enhancement of public spaces to the relationship between sound and landscape. In Morlupo, this common thread translates into the choice of locations and the dialogue between musicians and the host community, in an event that has become one of the most anticipated appointments of the local summer over the years.

Morlupo Music Festival — edition 2026

For the fourth consecutive year, the Pro Loco of Morlupo joined the 32nd international edition of the Music Festival on Saturday, June 20, and Sunday, June 21, 2026. The edition, dedicated to the national theme «The Voice of Places», was hosted in the Parco dei Padri Teatini, a large pine forest that filled with music, emotions, and shared moments for two days, with free concerts from 6:00 PM to midnight.

The 32nd international edition in Morlupo

On Saturday, June 20, and Sunday, June 21, 2026, Morlupo transformed into an open-air stage to celebrate the 32nd international edition of the Music Festival. For the fourth consecutive year, the Pro Loco of Morlupo, with the patronage of the Municipality, joined the initiative with its deliberately itinerant format, capable of involving new artists and new urban settings every year.

The theme: «The Voice of Places»

The 2026 edition followed the national theme «The Voice of Places», chosen for all of Italy and dedicated to the bond between music and the territories that host it. In Morlupo, the theme found an immediate translation in the choice of venue: the Parco dei Padri Teatini, a large pine forest in the green, hosted the musical program for two consecutive days.

Environment and activities

Alongside the concerts, the Pro Loco set up its food stalls, large spaces dedicated to youth sports, and children's games, with the Morludics group managing the recreational activities. A formula designed for fun for all ages, with free admission to every event.
