Monteuhell, the metal ritual of the Turin Monferrato

In the small village of Monteu da Po, in the province of Turin near the border of the Monferrato region, the Teatro Comunale transforms into the headquarters of Piedmontese underground metal every June. Monteuhell was born in 2023 from the passion of Wine and Fog Productions and Wine and Fog Distro, entities active in the distribution and promotion of extreme music, with the goal of giving space to Italian black, death, and dark metal bands in a cozy and authentically underground setting.

An intimate and curated formula

What sets Monteuhell apart from large open-air festivals is its deliberately small scale: capacity is limited to 100 people per night, a choice that fosters a direct bond between musicians and the audience. The Teatro Comunale stage hosts four bands each night, featuring a headliner to close the show and various bands looking to make their mark or making their first appearance in Piedmont. Over the years, the festival has grown from a single-day event in its first edition to a two-day format, allowing for a broader lineup and more projects.

A benchmark for the extreme scene

Past editions of Monteuhell have brought names like Gorgon, Infernal Angels, and Stormcrow to Monteu da Po, along with numerous acts from the national black and death metal scene, confirming the festival's vocation as a showcase for the underground. The atmosphere of the Teatro Comunale, combined with a focus on sound quality and a carefully curated lineup, has turned this appointment into a small but dedicated ritual for fans across Piedmont and beyond.

Beyond the music

The evenings are not just about concerts: the festival accompanies the music with record and merchandise stands curated by Wine and Fog Distro, photographic exhibitions dedicated to the metal scene, and the informal hospitality typical of events managed directly by enthusiasts. Monteuhell is proof that even a municipality of just a few hundred inhabitants in the Turin area can become, for two days, a capital of extreme metal.
