Pedal with Us: A day of cycle tourism and flavors in the Roman Sabina
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Montelibretti Bike Fest was born from a simple idea: to showcase the territory of the Montelibretti municipality, in the province of Rome, at the perfect paceโthat of a bicycle. The event, promoted by the Pro Loco Montelibretti with the subtitle "Pedal with Us," is a day entirely dedicated to cycle tourism, local products, and the slow discovery of one of the most beautiful countrysides in Lazio.
We are in the Roman Sabina, just a few kilometers from the capital but already in a different landscape: rolling hills, ancient olive groves, perched villages, and white gravel roads that wind through the fields. It is a territory perfectly suited for cycling, with manageable elevation gains and views that reward every climb.
The nature of the event has been clear since its first edition: it is a non-competitive event, designed for those who want to ride with friends and family, share a passion, and discover a territory and its richness. There are no stopwatches or rankings: just a group starting together, accompanied along the route, with scheduled stops.
The online rental option is one of the most appreciated features: those who do not own a suitable bicycle can book one, find it ready at the meeting point, and enjoy the day worry-free. E-bikes, in particular, have made the route accessible even to those who do not cycle regularly and to families with older children.
The nerve center of the event is the L'Antica Tenuta farmhouse on Via delle Regole, a historic early 19th-century residence immersed in greenery between a forest and an olive grove. This is where the meeting point, refreshment area, relaxation zone, and exhibition area dedicated to industry operators and local producers are located. The venue is managed by the property itself, while the overall organization remains with the Pro Loco.
The Bike Fest presents itself explicitly as a "green" event: enhancing the beauty of the territory, its culture, and its flavors with a zero-impact means of transport. It is a message that ties into the agricultural vocation of the Sabina, land of the DOP extra virgin olive oil, and the work that the Pro Loco carries out all year round with other events dedicated to local products.
The first edition took place in September 2022, followed by a second edition on Sunday, September 10, 2023, again based at L'Antica Tenuta and in the format of an accompanied ride with tastings. It is therefore a young appointment, born from local association initiatives, which aims to establish itself as a tourist promotion opportunity for Montelibretti and the entire Roman Sabina area.
Those looking for a competitive sporting event will find their fix elsewhere. The Montelibretti Bike Fest is something else: a Sunday in the open air, at a leisurely pace, with the chance to meet farms and producers who usually remain off the tourist circuits, and a lunch or snack at the farmhouse to end the day. For those living in Rome, it is also the easiest way to discover that the real countryside begins less than an hour's drive from home.
At the time of writing, the organizers of the Montelibretti Bike Fest have not released the official calendar for the 2026 edition, and the event's website is currently unreachable. The information provided here is therefore to be considered indicative and should be verified with the Pro Loco Montelibretti before planning your participation.
If confirmed, the day will follow the setup of previous editions: meeting at the L'Antica Tenuta farmhouse on Via delle Regole in Montelibretti, group departure for an accompanied ride through the olive groves and white roads of the Roman Sabina, stops at local producers and farms, and a refreshment and relaxation area upon return.
Official announcements are published on the event's Facebook page and the Pro Loco Montelibretti channels, which also manage registrations and rental bike bookings.
Montelibretti is located about 40 km northeast of Rome, in the Sabina region. By car: A1 Rome-Florence motorway, Fiano Romano exit, then SS4 Via Salaria towards Rieti and take the exit for Montelibretti. By train: the FL1 line and regional connections on the Salaria route serve the area, with the reference station being Fara Sabina-Montelibretti; from there, a car or transfer is recommended to reach the farmhouse.
Meeting point and logistics base: L'Antica Tenuta farmhouse, Via delle Regole, 00010 Montelibretti (RM).
Participation is by registration. You can book a classic or electric mountain bike in advance through the event's technical sponsors, finding it ready at the meeting point. A helmet is recommended, and comfortable clothing and a water bottle are mandatory.
