Wild boar specialties, music, and target shooting in Piazza Garibaldi
The Montecchio Wild Boar Festival is the summer event dedicated to one of the meats most closely linked to the tradition of the Umbrian hinterland. In the medieval village in the province of Terni, the festival enlivens Piazza Garibaldi with food stands offering wild boar cooked according to local recipes.
Among the most characteristic attractions is the running wild boar target shooting competition with an air rifle, a contest that awards gastronomic-themed prizes every evening according to internal regulations. It is one of the elements that makes this festival a recognizable event in the summer calendar of the Terni area.
Alongside gastronomy and shooting, the festival offers music and moments of socializing, in a convivial atmosphere that attracts locals and visitors from the surrounding areas. The event takes place over two distinct periods in August.
The 2026 edition of the Montecchio Wild Boar Festival is divided into two weekends: from Friday, August 7 to Sunday, August 9, and from Wednesday, August 12 to Friday, August 14, in Piazza Garibaldi.
The stands offer wild boar specialties, while the running wild boar target shooting competition with an air rifle awards gastronomic prizes each evening. Music and entertainment complete the evenings.
