A festival that regenerates the historic center

The Monte Grappa Festival is an event that, between spring and summer, transforms Via Montegrappa, in the heart of Civitavecchia's historic center, into a widespread urban stage. Born from the initiative of local merchants and shopkeepers, with the involvement of artists, cultural associations, and the patronage of the Municipality of Civitavecchia, the event combines live music, urban art, and participatory regeneration into a unique community project.

The contest for emerging music

At the heart of the event is the Monte Grappa Music Contest, a musical competition open free of charge to emerging bands and musicians from all over Italy and abroad. The evenings, spread over several months, bring dozens of competing artists to the open-air stage: starting from the preliminary rounds with popular voting, moving through quarter-finals and semi-finals, to the final judged by a technical jury. Prizes and awards are up for grabs to concretely support young talent.

Urban art, crafts, and community

The Monte Grappa Festival is not just about music. During the evenings, Via Montegrappa fills with urban art installations, panel murals, and live painting sessions, with new street furniture and benches that restore color and identity to the street. There is no shortage of craft markets and creative stands, with local exhibitors and artisans enlivening the pedestrian path alongside tastings and cultural initiatives.

A participatory regeneration project

More than just a simple event calendar, the festival represents a concrete example of participatory urban regeneration: merchants, artists, and citizens collaborate to bring life, energy, and sociability back to one of the historic streets of Civitavecchia, a port city in the Province of Rome, in the Lazio region. Access is completely free and open to everyone.
