An evening of singer-songwriter music in Volpedo

The Monferr'Autore Festival comes to Volpedo, a small town in the Province of Alessandria, Piedmont, famous for being the home of painter Giuseppe Pellizza da Volpedo, creator of the iconic Quarto Stato. Piazza Libertà will host one of the most beloved names in Italian singer-songwriter music: Davide Van De Sfroos, the artist from Como known for blending his local 'laghée' dialect and American folk roots into a universal language.

More than just a concert: 'live journalism'

The hallmark of the Monferr'Autore Festival is the dialogue with the guest, in a style of 'live journalism'. In Volpedo, Van De Sfroos does more than just sing: he meets the audience and converses with artistic directors Enrico Deregibus and Cristina Daglio, interspersing his stories with songs performed on the guitar. A master storyteller who, through provincial tales and characters, speaks to the heart of humanity itself.

The travelling festival of the Alessandria province

The Volpedo evening is one of the stops on the Monferr'Autore Festival, a travelling event that spans from April to July, visiting numerous towns in the Alessandria area with concerts, talks, theatre, cinema, humour, and literature. The festival is under the artistic direction of Enrico Deregibus. This year's guests include names such as Ron, Mauro Pagani, Cisco, Edda, Lamante, Elena Ledda, Violante Placido, Dente, and Tre Martelli, alongside tribute evenings dedicated to Enzo Jannacci and Andrea Parodi.

A collaboration with the local area

The Volpedo event is organised in collaboration with the Fiori di Pesco festival, supported by the local municipal administration, and confirms the Monferr'Autore's commitment to engaging with the cultural life of the small towns in the Monferrato hills and the Alessandria area, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is a way to bring great singer-songwriter music to village squares, celebrating both the landscape and the culture.
