Summer on Lake Monate
The Festa di Monate, also known as the Monate Live Music Festival, is one of the iconic summer events of Travedona-Monate, a municipality in the province of Varese overlooking the lake of the same name. With a long tradition, the festival takes place at Canottieri Monate, on the lake shore, transforming four early August evenings into a succession of concerts, conviviality, and spectacle.
Live Music Every Evening
Music is at the heart of the festival: it begins with an aperitif by the lake and an evening of entertainment, followed by live music nights featuring bands and groups spanning various genres. The food stand is open every evening, offering lake specialties and Lombard cuisine to enjoy waterside.
The Grand Fireworks Finale
The most anticipated moment is the grand finale, with the fireworks display over the water, featuring fireworks synchronized to music and accompanied by an orchestra. A spectacle reflected on the waters of Lake Monate that draws a large crowd to its shores each year. In case of bad weather, the show is postponed to the following evening.
A Community Festival
Organized by the Pro Loco of Travedona-Monate in collaboration with Canottieri Monate, the festival is a popular and family-friendly event. A free shuttle service connects the nearby towns of Ispra, Cadrezzate, and Monate, facilitating participation. The Festa di Monate has been a staple of summer in the Varese area and the small, picturesque Lake Monate for decades.
Monate Festival — edition 2026
In 2026, the Festa di Monate will once again liven up early August on the shores of Lake Monate, at Canottieri Monate in Travedona-Monate (Varese). Four evenings of live music, sunset aperitifs, a food stand with lake specialties and Lombard cuisine, culminating in the grand fireworks finale over the water.
The detailed musical program, including band names, will be announced by the Pro Loco of Travedona-Monate shortly before the event. The festival's structure, consolidated over the years, includes an opening evening with aperitifs and music, two live music nights, and the final evening with an orchestra and synchronized fireworks.

The detailed musical program for 2026, including band names, will be announced by the Pro Loco of Travedona-Monate. Usual festival structure (over four evenings, Friday-Monday):
- Friday — Aperitif by the lake with music; food stand open
- Saturday — Live music night; lake specialties and Lombard cuisine
- Sunday — Live music night; food stand
- Monday — Grand finale with fireworks display over the water, fireworks synchronized to music and orchestra (in case of bad weather, postponed to Tuesday)
