Modugno Wine & Food Festival

A journey through wine, food and music in the old town

The Modugno Wine & Food Festival, also popularly known as "Modugno sotto la Motta", is the autumn food and wine festival of the town of Modugno, just outside Bari, in the Apulian metropolitan area. For two evenings, the heart of the historic centre lights up with the glow of lights, the aroma of wine and traditional flavours: a path winding through the narrow streets, courtyards and small squares around Piazza Sedile, transformed into a widespread showcase of taste.

Taste stations

The festival features around twenty stalls distributed throughout the village: some dedicated to wine and the majority to food, with specialities that tell the story of the cuisine of Modugno and Puglia. Among the stalls, you will find grilled meat, roasted chestnuts, fried food, stuffed sandwiches and popular dishes like spaghetti all'assassina, accompanied by local wines. It is an opportunity to taste, stroll and experience the old town in a convivial way.

Atmosphere and live music

Music is the common thread of the event: live concerts alternate at various points along the route, accompanying the tastings until late. The evenings are complemented by scenic installations, photo spots and exhibitions hosted in the historic buildings of the centre, such as the cloister of Palazzo Santa Croce, testifying to the bond between the festival and the city's heritage.

A growing tradition

Having started just a few years ago, the Modugno Wine & Food Festival has become a permanent fixture in the Modugno autumn calendar, promoted by the City of Modugno with the Department of Productive Activities. The formula combines the promotion of local producers, the animation of the historic centre and free entry, making the event open to families, curious visitors and food and wine enthusiasts from the Province of Bari and beyond.
