Three days of Lambrusco, jazz music, and culture in the heart of Modena
The Modena WineFood Experience is the event that animates the historic center of Modena every spring, the capital of Emilia-Romagna, world-renowned for its balsamic vinegar, engines, and, of course, Lambrusco. Promoted by Confesercenti Modena and organized by Lambruscheria, with the patronage of the Municipality of Modena and the contribution of the Chamber of Commerce, the event intertwines food and wine, music, art, and history into one grand, widespread celebration throughout the city streets.
The beating heart of the festival is the Lambruscolonga, the historic tasting route that has made Modenese conviviality a ritual. Participants, equipped with a glass and a ticket, move from one venue to another: in each participating venue, a glass of selected Lambrusco and a gastronomic tasting designed by the chef to enhance its flavor await them. It's an original way to discover wine bars, bistros, and historic shops in the city center, toasting outdoors from one square to another.
The Modena WineFood Experience is not just about food and wine: the program is enriched with live jazz concerts, stand-up comedy shows, vintage markets, and artistic performances. During the event days, the city center experiences a true fusion of taste and culture, with participating venues hosting music and major monumental spacesโlike the Cortile del Leccio and the Palazzo dei Museiโbecoming stages for performances and tastings.
The event is linked to other cultural happenings in the city, such as the Museum Night, during which museums remain open until late evening, and traditionally concludes with a charity event that donates the collected funds to local associations. A formula that makes the Modena WineFood Experience not only a showcase for Lambrusco and Modenese cuisine but also an occasion for the entire community of the Province of Modena to come together.
The fourth edition of the Modena WineFood Experience, scheduled from May 22 to 24, 2026, also celebrated the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Lambruscolonga, which for the occasion was doubled with a brunch version. There were three tasting routes: two in the traditional Friday evening format (Summertime and Fly to the MO) and one on Saturday afternoon, the LamBrunch. All featured excellent Lambruscos, creations by chefs, and live music, this year strictly jazz in homage to Modena Jazz Open. The event, promoted by Confesercenti Modena and organized by Lambruscheria, animated squares, courtyards, and venues in the historic center with concerts, comedy, a vintage market, and the Museum Night, concluding with a charity musical at the Michelangelo Theater.
Modena is easily accessible by train (Modena station on the Milan-Bologna line, a few minutes' walk from the historic center) and by car via the A1 highway (Modena Nord or Sud exit) and the A22 Brenner highway. Events take place in the historic center, which has limited traffic: it is advisable to leave your car in the peripheral parking lots and walk to the squares.
Participation in the Lambruscolonga tasting routes requires the purchase of a dedicated ticket, available for pre-sale online on the official websites lambruscolonga.it and modenaexperience.it. Many side events (concerts, markets, Museum Night) are free to enter.
Book your ticket in advance as spots for the routes are limited. Wear comfortable shoes for walking between stops and check the schedule for each route on the official channels.
